You can go to the Black River Gorge just for the scenery, which is stunning or you can really go for it and see it by zip wire or quad bike or even a Nepalese foot bridge. We chose to do it all and were...More

In Black River Gorges National Park, you will see magnificent landscapes, with endemic plants, including a conservation area and rare orchids, and rare bird species.

A place where you get lost in the present Momment. It's Wow. Green, serene, foggy. What can I say, a wonder of nature

Visited the Gorge Viewpoint as part of a bus tour. It was a bit misty when we visited but we still saw the highest peak on Mauritius when the mist cleared. There are some souvenir stalls set up next to the car park.

The national park is ideal to learn more about endemic vegetation of Mauritius. The hike trails are well marked. We saw a.o. the pink pigeon. It is definitely worth exploring.

Mauritius is not just all about beaches and blue seas - but hills, forests and waterfalls and you get to experience these during the national park drive through. Great roads too!! We even saw wild monkeys at the side of the road.

The gorge has lovely views. It's good for a short stop en route to chamarel and the west coast drive. The souvenir stalls are cheapest here so I would suggest you buy here.

Normally when you book a taxi, you book them for the whole trip/day. If you decide to go to hike the driver is waiting there for you. Be sure to agree on a price in advance. Public transport with buses would be indeed a... More
