Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful statue of Our Lady Queen of Peace. She is holding the world in her hands and looking out over Port Louis and the Indian Ocean. The area is peaceful and beautifully kept with stunning views over the city.

This is a beautiful monument of the Virgin Mary overlooking the whole city of the Port Louis on the hillside of Signal Mountain. Look up from anywhere in the city and you will see this prominent site dedicated to Mary. It is one of the best obscured places in the city to see the city. The monument complex is actually an open air church at the top. The hillside has several terraces and is nicely landscaped. It was originally completed in 1941. The statue of the Virgin Mary is made of white marble and sits atop the church.
BOTTOM LINE: Worth you time for a quick visit. A wonderful monument that cannot be missed as you visit Port Louis. Pope John Paul visited this hillside monument in October of 1989. Access to the site is only by walking up some 80 steps though it can be seen for photos from the street level. Kudos to the city for such a beautiful monument. MY RATING: 9/10.

Beautiful monument and church overlooking Port Louis. Only a 4* rating because it was closed on the Sunday we were there.
Steep moss covered steps to the top and no railings but I believe there is a back entrance way for accessibility. It's on a very busy road and the day I was there, 3 tour buses on the road. NO safe way to stand on the road for a long distance shot.

The church itself is not spectacular, but coming here allows you to enjoy very beautiful views of the city.
