Unfortunately you cannot visit the interior of this beautiful French Colonial Building because it is in use today by the current Government, but you can still admire this majestic structure from the outside. Don't miss Queen Victoria with 'I am not amused' expression.

Building from the Colonial Period now used for the government. Quite grand for the island and interesting architecture.

A nice building from outside. A remnant of colonial times. The architecture is typical for the previous rulers. As such, it looks impressive enough. And the oldest building on the Island (1738) while Queen Victoria still stands guard

This building dates back from the times of Mahe de Labourdonnais when Port Louis was growing fast. It has since been modernised and refurbished following cyclones, fires and other disasters. It has a sentimental value for mauritians and still stands proud in the centre of the port esplanade.

If you are a fun of architecture and design you may find it interesting. It is an example of colonial style architecture.

The house itself is pretty enough from the outside, which is good as this is all that you will see. The house is not open to the public (as it still seems to be a functioning government office) so you are largely limited to walking past the front gate and taking a couple of photos. A nice enough place to... More
