Although locked when I visited, you can easily see the entire memorial from the street. It's not so much a garden as a memorial. There is a great mosaic, some interesting statues, and an overall feeling of history. A quick stop but a good one.

Monument to The Great Trek. It is hidden in Maputo but very well kept as it is recognized as a valuable piece of the history of the city. There isn't much to see but it is always nice to find a piece of history that...More

The memorial garden is a small place of interest to mostly South Africans. It is just sorry that is not very well looked after.

Ironic that this memorial to a Boer Voortrekker has survived so well in central Maputo. It is easy to find and informative.

This impressive monument is hidden away on Av. Josina Machel about 100 metres from Independence Square. Well-maintained, except for the fountain no longer working, the oddest thing is that it still exists. The monument celebrates the Voortrekkers expedition, heros foe colonialists, but an odd celebration...More
