Bluecrane Safaris Namibia is a local tour operator based in Windhoek, Namibia. We operate since 2007 and are running tours in Namibia, Botswana and Victoria Falls. We do small group tours from scheduled accommodated, camping , tailor-made safaris, private luxury safaris, fly-inn safaris and luxury mobile camping tours. We have our own fleet of custom 4x4 safari vehicles and fully trained guides.

We cannot say enough good things about Blue Crane Safari and the amazing two week + trip they put together for my husband and me throughout Namibia. Derek Jacobs was incredibly knowledgeable and responsive to me and the many questions and changes I had about our trip. The itinerary was excellent, reasonably priced and, most importantly, we had an incredible guide/driver who took care of every detail on our visit. Me-gusto was an excellent driver, a great guide and tracker, an incredible font of information about history, geology, flora and fauna, animals and just about anything we asked him about. He knew what we were interested in and planned accordingly, even if it was not part of the formal program, and helped make this one of the best trips we have ever taken (and we travel extensively). We did not have to worry about anything - he made sure we had good tables reserved at whatever restaurants we went to, that breakfast packs were ready when we had early starts, he would check out every room before we settled in, our 4x4 was clean every morning and the cooler filled with water and ice. I would highly recommend Blue Crane safaris if you are considering a trip to Namibia, and would highly recommend visiting Namibia. A gorgeous country with so much to see. The only down side is there is considerable travel involved if you want to see it all, but the roads are pretty good and Me-gusto does all the driving!

When we decided to visit Namibia we started reading up on tour operators Blue Crane Safaris had such good reviews we decided to email them with an idea of where we wanted to go/see/do and asked if they could provide an itinerary. Derek Jacobs the owner replied very quickly and that was the start of a 10 month communication when we decided to book a self drive tour with them. Nothing was too much trouble and any emails were replied to promptly.
When we arrived in Windhoek we were picked up by a company representative and taken to their offices to pick up our car and go over the itinerary. Jamie did the handover which was very in-depth and she gave us all the relevant information we needed as well as a WhatsApp contact number. Some of the accommodation on tour was suggested by Blue Crane and some we chose ourselves, it was a good mix.
We had an absolutely fantastic holiday it couldn’t have been better, everything went like clockwork thanks to Blue Crane. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better to we were upgraded to the Bush Camp at Okonjima on our last three nights which was a fantastic surprise, it was amazing.
It was really nice to meet Derek when we handed the car back at the end of our holiday. The personal service provided by the Blue Crane Safaris team is second to none and we highly recommend them.

we did a 1 week safari with blue cran in the north of namibia. our tour took us over the erongo mountains, the etosha national park and the waterberg to düsternbrook. We stayed in 4 different lodges. it was a wonderful safari. we saw the big 5 up close and so four other wild animals, incredibly beautiful. our guide Sammy is a very personable person and he simply had a feel for where the animals were. besides the names of the animals, sammy also told us in detail about their habits. Our jeep was technically in perfect condition and so we really enjoyed the more than 1000 km driven distance. Blue crane's boss, Derek, is also very personable. Finally, he drove us to the airport. So, I can only highly recommend blue crane. top guide, top equipment. everything was fine. always happy with blue crane.

My friend and I spent 5 days on a tour of the Namib Desert, Sossusvlei, and Swakopmund with Frank as our guide. He was kind and knowledgeable ensuring that we had an incredible experience. Our lodging was exceptional and all the food was great. We not only had great meals at the lodges but the cost of the tour also included a few restaurants that were all top quality. Great cost for such a high quality tour. We decided to go quad-biking in Swakopmund and Bluecrane helped us schedule the activity. I would recommend arranging one or two optional activities through your guide while in Swakopmund! We thought the 5 day tour was enough time to see Sossusvlei and the coast. However, we heard incredible things about Etosha from Frank and other locals. My recommendation to others would be to add on Etosha to the tour if possible. Overall great experience and hope to visit Namibia again with Bluecrane.

We experienced everything we hoped to in Namibia and more. The itinerary was designed to cover a lot of miles while we were fresh and allowed for a more relaxed pace toward the end. We saw Namibia from end to end covering almost 5000 Km. Our guide/driver Me-gusto filled each day with lessons in history, geography, and geology as well as ensuring we didn't miss a single point of interest concerning the wide ranging flora and fauna. Not only was he able to spot the animals of most interest but he also knew the names and calls of the many birds we saw, some of which were a mere blur. He was able to point out features of the landscape with the knowledge of an experienced botanist. Everything seemed to go like clockwork which was in part due to his ability to think on the fly and make adjustments to fit the circumstances. Our accommodations and meals throughout were first class and the transportation even though much was over gravel roads was comfortable.

Wonderful trip through Namibia. Derek worked with us to create an itinerary that let us visit the areas and sites that were our priority, and made thoughtful selections for lodges and activities. Our guide, Markus, could not have been better - just an all around great person. His knowledge of the country, its people, culture, history, the landscape and wildlife made our trip such an interesting and enjoyable experience. He was a safe and considerate driver and did his best to make us comfortable even on the long and sometimes bumpy drives. The lodges were all excellent, with beautiful locations and accommodations and attentive, welcoming service. While we loved all of them, Ongava Tented Camp and Okonjima Bush Camp were just amazing. Service and the activities - game drives and tracking - were phenomenal, as were their conservation programs. Excellent food and beautiful facilities. We agreed that if we were doing it again we would spend more time in each location. Highly recommend Blue Crane and hope to work with them again in the future to visit some of the areas we weren't able to fit in this trip (and will definitely request Markus as our guide)

Me-gusto, John and Fran were our tour guides, drivers, cooker and the best Namibian hosted. From day 1, they provided an outstanding service, explained every detail of our day ahead, they prepared the best dinners with amazing flavors and their Safari knowledge was invaluable as we were at the right time and location to discover Namibia’s animal kingdom characteristics, and even, we were able to see a cheetah hunting their meal. It was, without doubt, a trip of a lifetime. I highly recommend these team of amazing humans for your Namibia trip.

Blue Crane‘s speciality is not budget vacations, especially when it‘s about private guided tours with upscale lodges. However, when we compared their offer with others, the price was just slightly higher but included more items than the friendly competitors, such as meals, entry fees and activities. We have never regretted our choice.
Derek did a great job perfectly organizing our safari, incorporating our special requests and promptly answering our questions. Looking back, the tour was well balanced between activities and possibilities to stretch our legs. The lodges varied greatly in style and price level, but all of them were carefully chosen, providing a valuable addition to the overall experience.
Frank was our perfect tour guide. He was always anticipating our needs and got things going. His experience is a very valuable asset. Frank knows where and when animals can be seen, what forms and procedures are required at checkpoints and borders, where every pothole is between Windhoek and Vic Falls. He has an extensive knowledge about the country and even the stars above. We had great fun and learned a lot.

Our 15 day Namibian Highlights tour was fabulous. Blue Crane Safaris provided us with a comfortable, well maintained vehicle, driven by Sedney our excellent driver/guide. Sedney has great knowledge of his country, it's history & culture, & the wildlife. We were very well looked after, & felt safe the whole time. This tour takes in many parts of the country, & is a great way to see the diverse features & landscapes that Namibia has to offer. We would definitely travel to Namibia again, & Derek & the team at Blue Crane would be the people to talk with to arrange it.

We have just come back from an amazing 9-day camping safari with Blue crane safaris in Namibia. From beginning to end the service was thorough and consistent. Are guides Sidney and Franz were lovely and friendly and knew all the tricks of the trade. They knew when and where you you’d find the best siting’s and the perfect times to spot the lions. They would do anything to help you and make your trip as enjoyable as possible. The cooking was excellent and especially as we are vegetarians and fussy eaters. Derek had been very helpful with organizing the trip and especially as regards to navigating entry requirements and PCR tests. I was worried that camping would be uncomfortable but the tents were very tall and spacious and the camp beds and matrasses gave me the most wonderful sleep throughout the trip. I would definitely go on another safari with Blue cane safaris and our guides Sidney and Franz and would totally recommend them to anyone else looking for an amazing safari as they will deliver!
