If you are expecting a waterfall as they call it in Sudan, then don't go. We went there on a Friday. without local it is not easy to find the place. But local boys are waiting on the road side and offering to go there with you for little money. It is very beautiful area and you can have a... More

Two Sudanese hours north of Khartoum lies this beautiful spot, not necessarily because of the waterfall itself (which is really not a waterfall in most people's minds) but because of the surroundings and the fact that it shows rural Sudan. You really need to get there with some locals, and don't trust the "two hour" estimation, it really is more... More

This area is a beautiful part of the Nile. I was fortunate to go on Independence Day though I'm told that there are always local people about. Besides the Nile itself, hordes of local people were having parties and cookouts. The sometimes shy and reserved Sudanese welcomed photographs. Even if it were quiet, the scenery itself is lovely. If you... More

90 km from Khartoum there is sixth cataract of Nile - it is quite tricky to reach as you need to drive off road for some time. Once you reach it - there are number of fish restaurants who can also arrange a boat ride on the nile (200 Sudanese Pounds).

We were fortunate to visit during Independence day. The place was full of day trippers enjoying the sites and sounds of the river. Also a great place for a picnic

Accessible by car easily. Not too fare from Khartoum. Nice restaurants around. Fish is recommended. Toilets very clean around.

We found the 6th cataract at the Sabaloga Gorge a thrilling experience. (This is NOT to be confused with the confluence of the Nile, which is somewhat of a damp squib.) Just standing on the shore is no use, you only see the full beauty of the gorge if you take a 45 min. boat ride. The boatman owns a... More

They say if you eat the fish in Sudan, you will come back, and if you eat the fish a second time, you will be back again and again. At the heart of life in Khartoum is the Nile, which is the lifeblood of the region and beyond. With this in mind, it would be remiss not to visit the... More
