Samuel and Joseph planned a once-in-a-lifetime experience for my wife and me. Our private 2-week tour covered mostly Uganda and a bit of Kenya. We were able to see so many amazing things. This included beautiful landscapes, the wonderful people of Africa, and of course, some amazing animals. All of the places we stayed at were nice and comfortable. The food was lovely and the hospitality was perfect. Everybody was so nice and made sure we were comfortable the entire time. Any sign of a small problem was fixed immediately by Joseph and Samuel.

Joseph was an amazing guide to have with us for our time in Uganda. He really knows Uganda very well and comes from a family of tour guides. You will really get the best and most authentic experience possible with this group.

The safaris and up-close experiences with the gorillas and chimps were really amazing and moving.

Along our trip we also go to see Lions, Giraffes, Rhinos, Fowls, Hyenas, Buffalo, Crocodiles, Monkeys, Babboons, and so many birds.

If you are thinking of going to Africa, just do it. It will change your life. Make sure you book with Great Adventures. By doing so, you will support the local people there.

Look no further if you want a trustworthy and reliable tour operator for your trip to Uganda. I have visited almost 100 countries and this is my favourite trip to date. From the outset the communications were very good with Samuel and continued to be so throughout. So important for a trip of this nature. He was most helpful in helping to finalise a suitable itinerary and the whole trip was perfection. Lodges of a high standard and the timings were spot on.
Our guide David was faultless. A genuinely nice guy who was very knowledgable and you sensed he tailored little bits of the trip to your individual needs that he picked up on. We spent 10 days with David and so a poor guide would make or break the trip.
David was fun to be with, but ultimately safety was paramount, driving with care and professionalism, in what I considered to be the best safari vehicle of all that I saw. I also noted he was more attentive than some other guides from other companies, he always waited with us to ensure we’d gone with the right group, waved us off and greeted us back on time. Not all the guides do that from what I could see. My wife was a little out of her comfort zone on this trip, but she loved it and never once felt unsafe.
The trip itself is nature. You need luck on your side, but a good itinerary and guide will help your chances. Our overall trip was outstanding and will live with us for many years to come. Uganda has so much wildlife to offer and the friendliest people you could wish to meet. Faultless….thank you Great Adventures!

AMAZING TRIP! Sam was great with the communication by WhatsApp and ensured that we were prepared for our Gorilla trek. We stayed at Bweze lodge which was absolutely amazing. Apart from the Gorillas which were spectacular, the star of the show was Chris our driver… what an amazing guy. He is local to Bwindi forest so has so much knowledge about the area. His driving skills are 10/10 we felt safe at all times. He was organised and communicated with us at all times. Always ensuring we have cold water and ensured an easy border crossing for us to Kigali. We felt like we have made a friend. Thanks Chris for this wonderful all round experience- we can’t wait to go back to Uganda and will be booking through these guys straight away!

Go with Great Adventures! I booked a 2 week custom itinerary with gorilla & chimpanzee trekking, and Murchison Falls game drive in Uganda, as well as time in the Maasai Mara of Kenya. All the accommodations they booked were comfortable, beautiful, and with great food and staff. Their partner company for the Masai Mara portion was awesome too, though the people of Uganda hold the most special place in my heart :)

Samuel, the planner, arranged everything and was helpful and communicative. Joseph was our guide in Uganda, and he was the best! He was knowledgeable about animals & culture, accommodating, and fun. There were a couple setbacks with our itinerary (some due to us, some due to vendors that Great Adventures worked with), but they did everything they could to put us at ease and pivot to a suitable alternative. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi was definitely the highlight -- it was amazing to see these beautiful, intelligent animals up close.

I’m so glad I booked this unforgettable trip of a lifetime with this company! Go with them instead of a big US or EU-based tour company — you’ll be supporting local jobs in Uganda, and these guys are great. Thank you so much for making this an incredible experience!

We had such a great trip with Great Adventures! We booked very last minute and we only had a short time for our trip but they worked hard to research different itinerary options for us to choose from and managed to get us exactly what we wanted (seeing the gorillas in Bwindi and safari at Lake Mburo). They were efficient and professional throughout the planning stage. Then on the trip our guide Richard was brilliant. He was experienced, knowledgeable and professional throughout and also a really nice guy, helping make our trip truly special.

The day didn't start too early. My driver picked me up at 8:00 AM for a 4-hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. 4 hours that pass by quickly. The green and luscious hills of Rwanda and Uganda are amazing to look at and my driver let me know I could just let him know if I wanted to stop along the way to take some picture. After 2 hours of driving we arrived at the border and without issues we crossed into Uganda. The last part of the drive the road is no longer asphalted. We arrived at Rushaga Gorilla's Haven Lodge around 2 PM (Uganda is 1 hour ahead of Rwanda) and were immediately treated to a tasty lunch. Because I was fairly tired I didn't do too much at my lodge. Just did some writing and reading with an amazing view on the valley and the hills. After a nice dinner I headed to bed quite early and had a the best sleep of my entire trip to Africa. No lights or sounds to bother you at night. The next morning I quickly had some breakfast and the team at the lodge supplied me with a packed lunch. The drive to the starting point started at 7:20 AM and took us around 20 minutes or so. Once we arrived there we were treated to a briefing and some dancing by local boys and girls. After that we got divided into groups of 8 people and 3 rangers and we went on our way to find some gorillas. The hike itself wasn't as hard as I expected. The first 45 minutes we followed a trail that was just a little bit steep from time to time, but definitely not difficult. After that we were able to rest a bit on a bench next to the trail because the trackers informed us our group of gorillas was actually coming our way. The next 10 minutes might have been the hardest part of the hike as we had to find our way through plants, bushes and trees to get to our group. You also get asked to put on your face mask then. Once you get to the gorillas you're in complete awe. You just see these animals right in front of you, minding their own business. Not even caring you are there. You notice how similar they are to humans when you watch them. One of the blackbacks was just sitting there, resting against a fallen trunk with his head resting on his hand, same as a human would do if he was bored or something. And the little baby gorillas with all that hair on their heads are just a delight to watch. I can honestly say that it was a huge disappointment to me and the other seven people in the group to hear that we had to leave the group of gorillas after one hour. Of course I understand it is necessary not to stay too long near these amazing animals, but still... After a 40 minute walk back via the same trail we arrived at the starting point where we were given a certificate and where my driver was waiting for me. Time to head back to Kigali.

For those interested in doing a gorilla trek, please consider Great Adventures Uganda. They did a great job setting up this once in a lifetime trek for me. They are very communicative and always ready to answer your questions and tackle your concerns.

Also, these treks do not always consist of just a 45-minute walk. It is possible that you will need to hike for hours to get to your group of gorillas. These animals move around most of the day.

We did the bwindi gorilla trekking tour and got henry as a driver, really nice guy. We spoke in french most of the time but we were only saying how good a driver he is while we were in the back of the truck. We did a month in africa with a lots of activities but the highlight of our tour was meeting henry! What a driver, we felt safe with henry! Henry, what a man

Well, so I am mad about the natural world. Over the last forty odd years I have spent all my money and even the money not yet earned on trips to far-flung destinations in search of exotic creatures. This time I decided to go for three days only!!!! to Uganda just to see the Shoebill Stork. Now this being nature, the bord would not show up for two days. My guide Wilson was not deterred by this: he put his mobile phone to work and within the space of an afternoon we had a small army of shoebill spotters searching for this rare and elusive bird in the Mabamba Swamps. What is more, Wilson also showed me a colony of strawberry fruit bats - easily the cutest mammals you can hope to meet! - in the end we had found families of otters, bat colonies, endless different species of birds, wonderful grasses and plants and ... oh, did I mention: the shoe bill himself?! As I am writing these lines I am still full to burthing with happiness and I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight with all this excitement. Wilson has been doing bird guiding tours for seven years and in four decades I have met few guides who are as knowledgable and as hard working as he is. As for his boss, Sam, he is brilliant and responds to Whatsap messages really quickly. He is a great guy and I promise, if you put your trust in them, you will have the most wonderful time in Uganda.

We book a 2 day Gorilla trip in Uganda (to/from Kigali).
Everything went very well - Samuel, the contact person, is very responsive and adopted well to unpredictable changes.

Thank you Sam - we would certainly book with you again.
