We loved it! You went back in time to the early 1900's . Gorgeous. If you are in Abilene, Kansas, it is a must-see!

This is a magnificently maintained, 11,000 sq ft home built in 1905 and occupied by the original family until the late 1870's/early 1980's. The builder was succeeded by his two unmarried daughters who lived in the home and slept in the same twin beds in their childhood bedroom until their deaths in their 90's. In the 1970's, the home was... More

Beautifully maintained historical Georgian home complete with original furnishings right down to the Edison electrical fixtures. The current owner gives friendly and very informative tours. Much more than we expected.

Seelye house tour. This is an amazing tour, and here’s why. The house, outside, is nothing special. The house, inside, is architecturally quite interesting but not mind-blowing. What’s interesting is that the house, built in 1905, is in immaculate condition and it is UNRESTORED. It’s 111 years old, still has someone living in it, and has all the original fixtures... More

We just happened to see this house and stopped to see if tours were available. We just made the last tour. The guide is the owner of the house which he bought from the original daughters. It is in wonderful condition and the owner/guide made us feel like we were visiting him. We could actually sit on the furniture and... More

This was an unexpected side trip on our trip to visit working soda fountains in Kansas. When we saw the mansion we had to stop. The mansion is beautiful and the owner is very proud of his home. We had expected to only take 1/2 hour to hour out of our timetable. Two hours later we left the tour early... More

The Seelye Mansion was built in 1905 for $55,000. It is a three story home with a widow's walk on the roof. There are eleven bedrooms in this 11,000 square foot home. The home contains all the original furniture and furnishings with many of the pieces over 100 years old. The present owner bought the home from two sisters and... More

Previous reviewers have said great things I don't need to repeat, I just wanted to add to the rave reviews. There are some amazing pieces in this house, including a victrola the owner plays a Sousa march on and a 100-year old Steinway piano we got to play. All the light fixtures are original Thomas Edison/GE pieces, and Frank Lloyd... More

Owner guided tour of almost three hours. Countless stories of life in early 1900's. This is a home, not a museum. Personalized touches of relationship with daughters of the original owner. No southern home compares.
