Temple has a great view of the city, so go during dusk to get the best photos. Monkeys are everywhere but are not a threat to visitors. Be ready to climb the stairs as it's a fifteen minute climb to get the temple.

Place is on the top of a hill with some great of the entire city. If adventurous, try several 100 stairs to the top, easier option is to go by cab. Entrance fees is NPR 50.00 per person.

The Swayambhu Nath Temple is one of the most important Buddhist religious site in the world and equally important for Nepalese Hindus. But to be honest, I must say, the people in-charge and taking care of this site are, the world's biggest corrupts. The temple area is broken everywhere, dirty, disgusting & smelly (probably monkey poop). It is definitely 1000s... More

Definitely worth climbing up the steep steps to see a Buddhist stupa, a complex of temples, a panorama of the city from the hill and the monkeys. Great place to see the sunset. We went there both during the day and in the evening, atmosphere is different at different times, definitely more monkeys in the evening! During the day it's... More

You must not miss it because of its historical/cultural interest, its loud and agile monkeys and the view on the city.
