Such a splendid view, ravines and natural countryside..streams and hills. The caddies are very young boys who have fair knowledge of the course. Be sure to carry extra golf balls as the fairways are narrow, also many dog legs to the green. The weather wasnt that cold after a few holes. There was no necessity to wear proper golfing shoes..one point noted was that the caddy fee was the same as the shoe rental!! There were outdated golf clubs for rent too.Make sure you bring some light snacks as there is no food, nor hot beverages served at the club house, nor is there a half way hut. The club manager was very friendly and even followed us on some holes..Later,he even took us around the temple above at the Lake. Very good, friendly hospitality offered.

The main challenge was playing the course and enjoying the scenic views. Never had I played on a course like this..Golfers,take note..A must.

This course is a hidden gem and a real test of fitness and golf. Loved the experience of crossing the gorges on little bamboo bridges.....not for the faint hearted at all.

I played a round at the famed Himalayan Golf Club in April 2009. I've played many courses and this one ranks right up there among the more unique.

Finding my way there from Lakeside was relatively simple. The route is well sign-posted all the way to the course (look out for the black and yellow golfer logo). I was met by the friendly pro who helped me to a set of clubs and some balls. The$45 includes 18holes green fee, clubs hire and a caddy. New balls cost Rs 200. I highly recommend hiring a ball spotter for Rs 250. Apart from their obvious duty, they have excellent course knowledge and help pick out the correct line of play.

The course lies in a gorge with lots of risk/reward holes on offer. You are called to carry the river several times from elevated tee boxes while missing the green on some holes means your ball ends up in the gorge or the river.

The signature hole (holes 4 and 10) is the island green which splits the river and can be seen on the club's website. Other unique features include cows keeping the fairways trimmed and eagles soaring overhead.

The only criticism I can add is shabby state of the tee boxes and greens. Having said that the climate is harsh and the clubs recourses to maintain the course are severely limited.

I had a great day out and the friendly staff more than compensated for the course's short-comings. A must for keen golfers!!

AHHHHHMAZING and surreal golf course. Easily the most fun and eccentric and cool course I've ever played. Not only do you play in an insane gorge, but you often have to hit over water, cross bridges, dodge water buffalo (greens keepers) to retrieve a lost ball, but the 16th hole, the "abyss" is pspobably the most exciting single tee shot IN THE WORLD. The caddies were lovely, the pro, bobowan is an ACEand really good teacher. MUST DO IN POK. The Sampada inn can arrange all or call them directly. We had an amazing time!!!!

Who can say they played golf with the Himalayas in the background? This course is sweeping in its beauty (16 holes are played in a ravine with roaring mountain river) but steep in it's green fee (spent close to $100 for green fee, rental clubs, balls, ball boy, caddy & range balls).

The course is not in the best shape but I wasn't expecting No.2 at Pinehurst. There are cows, goats, dogs, random kids and woman who seem to roam throughout the course. Another interesting feature are the barb wire fences that protect the greens from hungry goats and cows.

You won't play your best here but you will have one heck of a story to tell your other golfophiles back home.

I've played golf all over the world. THIS is one of my favorite golf courses ever. You hit over gorges, along rivers, amidst buffalo and sheep. The Himalayas are visible throughout the entire round. The caddies are tremendous.

This couldn't get any more fun.

My friends and I had SUCH a wonderful experience here. And it's only a 15 minute drive from Pokhara –- a $5 taxi ride max. I would encourage everyone to make a trip over to this insanely beautiful golf course...and experience a round of HIMALAYAN GOLF. Gets no more fun than this!!!

It is golfing, landscape photography and trekking rolled into one. Spectacular views of the mountains and the river. Sudip, my caddie was excellent.
Note: be sure to arrange for your taxi to pick you up after the game. Negotiate a return fare. I paid 1500 Nr. You might have to pay a bundle if you call for a taxi from the course.

Ok it's not Wentworth or Gleneagles but it's included in the top 10 unique courses in the world.Climbing boots would be probably better foot ware than golf shoes and it may be worth bringing your trekking poles with you.that aside what a wonderful experience and a great day out.
The cadies are helpful and are probably better golfers than you and the pro is a real star.We sat for an hour and a half having a beer and talking with him not only about golf but Nepal in General, only interrupted by him having to chase water buffalo who were intending to invade the 18 th green.
Go and play and have a great day.
And remember it's only a good walk spoiled.

One of the most natural and beautiful golf courses in the world. Its also extremely affordable and includes a caddy. The only downside is you must walk the entire course which can get extremely tiring in the sun. However, theres a waterfall on the course to cool you down!
