Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The cave itself is not that bad. Nepali people at the entrance will give you a torch and automatically start telling you something guiding you though the most iconic (if I can say like that) spots of the inside parts of the cave.
There you'll need to climb and cralw what will give you some kind of emotions and make you really filthy. However the most disappointing part is awaiting for you in the very end. Once you step out of the cave and wash your hands entrepreneurial Nepali guide will tell you to pay for his service definitely not letting you know in advance! Make sure he'll ask you at the entrance where you are from. UK? Europe? Best of luck🍀🤞
They do try to tell you that they usually take 8-10k rupees for guiding, but only for you it's 2k. Don't be frivolous to give even that some of money. 200 rupees is the max if you want to thank them. If you don't - just go away.
It's a way better to go to the Bat Cave nearby where you don't need to climb or take a guide cause there's so much space there and more bats what's more amazing comparing to getting dirty and tired from the first.
P.s. People working there know that you've been cheated already in Mahendra Cave, so they'll try to reduce the price for guiding, but again - you don't need it.

Even if you have never seen a cave before, this is still a waste of 150npr & a taxi fare.
Just boring, nothing to see, maybe only popular to locals who have a small shrine at the back of the cave.
Go to the Bat cave down the road but skip this one. Nice icecreams at the front entrance where you can sit and mutter about tourist ripoffs!!

I heard a lot about Mahendra Cave and went there for a visit. It was quite a short trip inside the cave than the time it took to travel there.

Nothing to see! It will take a max 5 minutes to see it all. Nothing interesting about it. Was waste of time and money if I'm honest. Theres' better things to do in Nepal.

The entrance fees is NPR 80 for Indians although the so called entrance ticket does not mention the rate. There are two paths. One is called Varahi gupha. The other side takes one to the naturally formed Ganesha.

The caves are not impressive at all, neither is the ground. It's crowded and I'm not sure why we should bother to buy a ticket. However, it is a companion attraction to Devi's Fall. If you do decide to come (which I assume you simply have too much time to kill), do Devi's Fall first then visit the caves.

Went to visit and after paying the entrance fee was approached by a guy who seemed to work there. Mentioned he would guide us. No mention of cost. Showed us around a little the at the end demanded 2000 rupees. Nepal is an awesome country but always ask if there’s a cost and how much up front. Enjoy!!

Same as the bat cave, we visited this cave only becasue its close proximity to the Gurkha Museum. Same as the bat cave, the Mahendra cave has very little to offer.
A very short walk we reached the end, where stands a stone / rock formation that is said resembling Ganesh. Outside the cave is a short path surrounded by tall trees, pleasant enough but still can't justify going all the way there.
I would rather save the R150 entry fee for a good cup of Masala tea.

This is a beautiful place but it was packed with schoolchildren when we went so it was hard to appreciate the beauty and serenity inside.

We recently visited the cave and spent an interesting 30 minutes exploring both it and the other exhibits on site. There are other attractions in the general and shopping opportunities in the area. Recommended.
