On my second holiday in Taiwan I visit this amazing district for the second time and loved it all over again but I would give a little note of caution if you are a westerner traveling alone, best here to buddy up with a local. Hot springs are an important part of the local culture and there are some rules... More

My friend takes me to 山之林Hot Spring couple of times during my half month stay in Taipei. You can take bus 508 to section 4 Xing Yi road, just walk 5 minutes, the spa is right there. The entrance fee is less than 10 US and you can stay as long as you like.

Went to one of the hot spring on Xienyi 3 Road. Directions provided by other travelers were accurate and the bus stopped few feet from the entrance to the various hot springs. There was a restaurant on site for the Huang Ding Hot Spring and seemed popular with locals. The entrance fee was NTD250 without food or NTD400 if dining... More

There are a number of hot spring establishments (including some fine hotels) offering hot springs along this road. Towards the end of the street is a large hot spring where one can get a great photo op. You can really get immersed (without getting wet) from the mist, warmth and smell of the hot springs. Its a fine place to... More

I honestly prefer this area to the main Beito hot spring area. To get here take bus 508 or 902 from up the mountain. You can take the bus the 508 bus from Shipai station and 902 from either Shipai or Zhishan (amoung other places obviously). I really like going here in the winter when it's rainy and gross out,... Once you exit the Redline station shipai. Turn right, cross a small road. Take bus 508. On your return, same bus near shipai station. No sweat! Entrance fee: NT200. Not expensive as compared to Beitou. Expect to be totally nude. Use your hands to cover, but after a while - you don't even care anymore. Cos no body cares after... More
