We did a 4 day stopover as part of our Dubai and Hong Kong trip, but with so many tours we were unsure. We were drawn to this one given that we wanted to do and see specific, more personalised things in a short space of time rather than these massive tours that focus on taking you shopping. We were given a private driver, Pat who was also our private tour guide and a luxurious vehicle. He was friendly, funny and informative and took us to see the real Thailand and we had lunch at a local cafe in the countryside that was so authentic. As instructed he planned our trip so well, we went to Kanchanburi to see the Kwai Bridge, death Railway, Elephant Riding and the Tiger Temple (sadly no longer there). He knew all the tricks so we didn't get ripped off and didn't have to wait in line for long and the experience felt so authentic in the countryside as it wasn't in one of those tourist traps. On day 2 he drove us to the floating market and pre informed us of how much a certain souvenir I wanted was so I didn't get ripped off. He even took us to the train markets and a few interesting points as a bonus. Price was really reasonable for what we got compared to others and you will not be disappointed. Worth every penny!

Today was one of the best experiences of my life. We got to meet Tong, a tiny lady with a huge heart. 🥰 She met an elephant 🐘(also named Tong) who was malnourished, depressed, and horribly mistreated. 🥺 So Tong bought the elephant and made a home for her in the mountains. ⛰ Then nursed her back to health (mentally and physically). She proceeded to rent elephants (because it is so expensive to purchase them) that were in need of her love and care. She now has 6 beautiful, kind elephants. These elephants have been raised as domesticated elephants for generations. They could never make it in the wild. They would be killed for going into the villages to try to get food from the people. Tong does not believe in using the hook or other tools to teach or hurt the elephants. They are only given love and so they respond by doing what you ask. The elephants were all so loving and had great personalities. Unfortunately, the males were in musk, due to mating season, so we didn’t get to get up close with them. Our “babies” for the day were Duk Dik and baby Dodo. Duk Dik was so kind and thoughtful. Here eyes were incredible. Dodo was so well behaved for being so young. My goodness does he love food. 🤣 They love mentos (mint flavored). They would get so excited for the treats. Could have loved on these two all day. The trainers were so kind and sweet with the elephants. We could see the love that all the Mahoot (trainers) have for their elephants. What a lovely bunch of people. Our guide was Lily, she was so knowledgeable and funny. She took so many great photos for us. She has a good eye for photography. We felt so lucky to have her. I couldn’t recommend this place more. It was the best animal experience I have ever been on. An experience of a lifetime. If you want to hug, kiss, feed, play with and just love on these beautiful creatures, this is the place.

Our day with Tong last August was by far the most moving, memorable, incredibly enjoyable experience in all of our travels. The details of our amazing adventure follow: Booking: My husband had visited on his own in March and the opportunity to return with me was irresitable. He booked our day easily through e-mails with Tong. She provided him with every detail of our day, making everything carefree for us. Guide: Our gracious guide was Lily who was absolutely amazing. She was a fantastic ambassador of Thailand...sharing cultural information, stories, history...WOW. We adored her company and felt blessed to be in her company for the day. Her English was excellent, and appreciated. Also stunning were the hundreds of photos she took, using both of our phones, freeing us to to be totally present in every moment. She captured our awe and sheer joy in a way we would never had been able to do ourselves. Lily knew the names and stories of every elephant, lion, tiger we interacted with. She made our day unforgetable. Driver: I'm sorry I don't remember his name but he was lovely, polite and cautious behind the wheel. He made sure to stop for breaks as needed and kept the car a comfy cool temperature for us. Tong: Tong is a one-in-a-million, genuinely special human being and we feel honored to have made her aquaintance and share time with her. She's so warm and engaging and her passion for saving, rehabilitating and providing a loving home for formerly mistreated elephants is inspirational. The Elephants: We met the entire group of well loved, well cared for elephants who live here and learned details of their stories. We fed snacks, groomed, walked with and bathed Jumbo and Dun Dik. This experiece was unforgetable. The manhouts who live on the premises and care for the elephants handle them with gentle care and kept a watchful eye while we enjoyed these gentle giants. I fell in love with our elephants and simply must return to see them again. Lunch: Our delicious lunch (gluten-free, to accomodate Celiac) was prepared and served by a very sweet woman who made sure to care for us well. Thank you so very much! Safari Park: Our next stop was the Safari Park, where we bathed a tiger, walked a tiger and leapard on a leash, bottle fed a baby tiger, lion cub and baby leapard. Each experience alone was amazing...all in one day was simply magical. Overall: The absolute highlight of a month of travel through Asia, SE Asia and AU. We can't wait to return and will absolutely do so when we return to the region. Thank you Tong, Lily, the Monks, Manhouts, Our Driver, Jake and the cat handlers at the Safari Park, The lovely woman who served us lunch at Tong's...each individual contributed to make our day unforgetable.
