We had this cruise few years back and it was lot more fun though main reason of deterioration cannot be attributed to Pearl Cruise as previously both sides of the River was well lit and made a wonderful ambiance; this time around almost the complete river line was in darkness except few areas like hotels / restaurants, shops etc. The... Pros: - beautiful river scenery - its a big ship. Can hold 500 passengers. The good thing you can move around the ship after or during your dinner. There are 3 level of ship deck with 3 entertainment band and atmosphere: family theme with air con room, outdoor deck with candle light theme which is very romantic and rooftop outdoor... More

If you buy this cruise ticket over 1,200 Baht, it must be overcharged. 900~1,100 Baht is reasonable price. Foods: There are several serving tables for international buffet. All the tables serve different foods, so you'd better to visit every table. The quality is average. Beverage should be paid. Wines will be over 1,800 Baht without 10% service charge. Concert: Two... We paid extra to be on the bow of the boat it was really nice until it started raining and they didn't have a plan for the rain so my girl friend and i were seated next to the toilet. We paid a lot and ended up having a miserable and smelly trip. They over book the boat so it... More

The Grand Pearl River Cruise is highly recommended! This was our second cruise on the grand pearl! We travelled with my 4yo son and my elderly mum! The wait staff were absolutely lovely and very attentive and helpful, the food was great, with a good varied selection. Remember to Take your camera as the temples are lit up and an... More

Transport and booking by Hotes2thailand perfect. Boat stunning. Staff excellent. Cruise views fantastic! Food very, very disappointing! Limited selection of food and majority cold. Even the spaghetti bolognese was stone cold at every single serving station. We would do the river dinner cruise again but think would try a different company such as white orchid to see if the food... More

Together with some friends, we did the river cruise. The quality and variate of the buffet, was not great and the service very slow. After we departed it started to rain heavily, so we had to go under deck. As soon as we started with eating there ( it took very long until we got drinks there) a lot of... More

It was all planned out by my girl friend and she took me there, first sight of it, I had that wow factor. A luxurious cruise with Thai-ness engraved inside. Before you board the cruise, you can spend sometime at the pub area, you have to pay for the alcohol so is on the cruise. But the buffet dinner served... More

This cruise is worthwhile taking. Make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the boat as traffic is at grid lock around that area. The good is buffet style, although it could be a little hotter. The entertainment is excellent and the evening river cruise is magical. Make sure you explore the 3 levels of the boat. You... More

I have used Grand Pearl Cruises many times, but this is my very first review of them. I take a dinner cruise with them every time i'm staying in Bangkok. Its a fantastic experience cruising down the Chao Praya river at night, enjoying a nice buffet, watching some traditional dancing and listening to the on-board band, but the best part is... More

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
