One of Bangkok’s best-kept secrets is Khlong Toey, a chaotic, sprawling food market not far from the city’s centre. It’s a travel photographer’s dream, packed with shouting market vendors offering live produce, fresh fruit and vegetables and cooked local dishes. Eye-opening and enthralling, it’s a great insight into how locals live – and to where your moo manow really comes from.

I went just to browse, ended up walking around for almost 4 hours. I walked, shopped, smiled, and took all the pictures I wanted. Just to share, this place is amazing. It's the largest outdoor market with anything and everything you could imagine.

This floating market isn't really floating as the stalls are mainly on land. However, the food was really good and the prices are cheap. Majority of the customers here were locals, so this is a great place to be if you're looking for an authentic local experience. To get here, you have to get to the Khlong Toei pier (There's... More

Fun to see how the locals live, but if you got teenagers make sure you prepare them for the smell's and the fact they will see live animals in small cages, quick tip: wear enclosed shoes, lots of puddles!

This is about 10 min walk from Khlong Toey MRT station, easy to find. We enter from the side which sells fruits (which is why we came). There is also parts selling fresh meat (pork, beef and live chicken), vegetable and other daily necessities. The fruits are very fresh and inexpensive. We bought a lot of local fruits. The tag... Khlong Toei is a very fascinating local wet market but not for the faint hearted. You can find frogs, eels, crickets, ants and other exotic animals on sale here. The usual things like meat, vegetables, fruits and other ingredients can be found here. This is not a tourist spot but rather a local market catering to the locals. The things... More

Its a treat to wander across the wet market where locals shop their spices, pastes, meat, processed meat sea food, veggies and fruits. Much like Indian markets where vendors and hawkers are aplenty shouting their best costs, locals with their bags reviewing and making a killer bargain...all this with the Thai flavour. There is lots of sea food, fish stalls,... More

You can find anything in this market absolutely anything, and the prices are not that good (unless you go at 1-3 Am because this is a 24 hours market). You just have to mind the smell a little bit and be careful of the pickpockets but other than that all is good.

This is where the locals go for their daily groceries need. We took a cab from Siam at 5.30am to avoid traffic, cost us ard 60baht. The market is huge! One side is selling meats, other selling fresh seafood and on the other end selling fruits and veggies. I agree its not for everyone. The sight of meats hanging and... More

One of Bangkok's largest fresh markets, straddled across a main road and with hundreds of traders selling every kind of fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood and even a few selling clothes. Very hectic, very local and when Durian is in season ... very smelly!!!

This is a nice market. There you can buy any food and experiece how they live in Bangkok. It is recommendable not to go with filpflops or sandals.
