Very exciting experience where you can experience Bangkok outside the well-known tourist spots. You see how the foal lives. Super skilled guides who understand and speak English. Our last guide was called Chayaprat and he took good care of the group and was knowledgeable. The bikes are of a good standard and there are helmets and child seats available. Good food is served at a local restaurant during the cycle tour. Suitable for a long trip (15 km) that does not require super fitness.

If you want to see Bangkok in an authentic way. Out of the tourist crowd. This tour is made for you!
Friendly welcome by the boss. Local guide (Polly) lovely and knowledgeable. She was able to answer our many questions.
We liked the market visit, the fruit tasting, the choice of authentic restaurant.
We highly recommend.

Our guide Polly took us on a brilliant journey through the quiet alleys of Bankok. She was friendly, personable and very professional. We had plenty of stops with drinks and a delicious lunch. I am a lady of 65 years old and I managed the ride with no problems during a very hot morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are wondering if it a possibility for you, I would highly recommend it.

Great family experience. An incredible way to discover Bangkok from a different perspective, far from mass tourism.
The 4 hours and 15km go by very quickly! Several unusual and delicious breaks and stops.
The best part: a super friendly French guide (Jean Marc) who explained a thousand things to us about Thailand!
I recommend for sure!

The tour itself was good and I enjoyed riding around the back alleys and country of Bangkok, but my first impression was negative. Unfortunately I arrived ten minutes late (Side note: the operator offers to call a taxi to meet you at your hotel but this costs 500 baht and I was able to get a metered taxi for 110. Try not to pick this option as it seems really overpriced). I tried my best to let him know I was arriving late, but seeing as I wasn't too late (10 min) I thought I would still try to see if everyone was there. He gave me a call just as I was arriving and helped the taxi driver find the spot. I arrived smiling and apologizing, quickly getting a bike and helmet. I wasn't sure if we were ready so I stood with everyone else facing the Thai guide waiting to go. I felt the owner was very patronizing and I was very embarrassed in front of the group (the Thai guide and the rest of the tour members were very nice). I wanted to leave just then and almost cried. This is worse as a solo female traveler as I already had a rough few days and felt out of place. I don't think being ten minutes late justifies a free pass to embarrassing your customer. He did try to talk to me later on in the tour but I never got an apology. I'd probably book another biking tour company next time I come to Bangkok.

Maybe it's better for families or couples.

Dear TA reviewer, I am very sorry to hear you were disappointed with us. First of all, arriving late is not the end of the world. We are quite used to customers underestimate the traffic in Bangkok, so we are prepared for late arrivals. We wait for everyone as long as we know you are on the way (everyone is advised to call me, if late). It is certainly better to arrive in time of course, something has to be excluded for late passengers (briefing/biking/guiding), which is not preferable. Our policy is that customers arriving in time are not supposed to suffer for others not in time. Second, we offer pick-up at your hotel. It is a guarantee you get to right place in right time. It is more expensive but might save you from some trouble. It is hard for many tourists in Bangkok to get a taxi on meter, and you will probably get a driver not able to communicate in English and not able to understand a map. It could cause some passengers a lot of problems, in fact. You were lucky though get one on meter, and it is a lot cheaper, of course. 500 Baht is the deal we got with the taxis, the customer usually pays directly to the driver and we are not doing any profit of this, just providing the service. It might be worth the difference, if you have problems handling the embarrassment arriving late. Honestly, I am not quite clear over what you are complaining about. The group (7 people + guide) was just about to leave, when you arrived. We had two choices 1) let the group wait a few more minutes and get you ready to join the group from start or 2) let you go upstairs, repeat the briefing for you personally and catch up the group later. In this case I decided to let the group wait a little. I smiled to you also, we shook hands and I said welcome. Not time for any longer presentation, as I hope you understand. We provided a bike, helmet and a bottle of water for you and it was time to go. I am not sure you realized the presentation and briefing already had taken place upstairs, so here might be a misunderstanding. You seemed not willing to make yourself ready, so I remember asking you to put the helmet on, so we could go – is that what bothers you? 7 people were waiting for you, after all, and please do not forget I have a responsibility to them also – not only you. I understand you are not a person wants to stand in the centre, but you really put yourself there by arriving late. Almost crying? We are very sensitive here, I beg your pardon. What did I say hurting you so much? To tell the truth, I had no idea I said something hurting your feelings. So, you are disappointed not getting an apology from me and I am not aware I did anything wrong. That is a shame. Anyway, I give you my deepest apology for whatever I said, I had no intention acting “patronizing “ just start the trip as quick as possible. But I understood you were not pleased, when you left our office after the trip not saying goodbye to me or my staff, but then it was too late. You had several chances before talking to me about this, but you did not. So here is your revenge instead, giving Bangkok By Bike a very poor verdict, despite the fact you say you enjoyed the trip. I can only conclude it is personal to me, and you believe it justifies to punish our company. Well, if it makes you feel better….. ? Next time you are biking in Bangkok I hope you get such an enjoyable ride as with us, but will meet an owner you like better. I also hope your rough days are over and you are in a better mood to face rest of your stay in Thailand.

We (family of three with college-aged daughter) had three days in Bangkok and decided to spend one of them seeing off-the-beaten-path sites by bike. In researching the various biking options on Trip Advisor, I was drawn to this company not only because of the reviews but also because it seemed to be more focused on local culture, whereas some others were more about biking in natural areas. We ended up doing the morning tour and it was one of our favorite activities in Bangkok. We cycled around the backstreets, lanes, and canal paths on the “other side” of the river from the tourist sites, and saw a variety of neighborhoods from lower-class shacks alongside the canals to individual gated-homes in wealthier areas. There wasn’t really an opportunity to get many photos along the way, so you just kind of take in the sights, sounds, and impressions as you ride. The ride ends after lunch with a 15-minute boat ride down the river with our bikes loaded on board.

The ride was very well-organized; the bikes were clunky but worked well, and were big enough for my 6-foot husband; helmets were available; and lockers are available in the office area where you can leave your daypack during the ride. Arne and his guides speak English well (some guides better than others).

Traffic was not a problem on the ride—we rarely encountered cars except for a handful of intersections. The much bigger challenge is how narrow the canal paths are (sometimes just three feet across), often with drop-offs (or market stalls) on either side. The paths make sharp turns and can be bumpy. Sometimes there are motorbikes sharing the path with you. You definitely need good balance. This isn’t like everyday riding at home. It can definitely get a little bit tense at times. I highly recommend that you set the bike seat lower than you would ordinarily, as you will often be putting your foot down and using it to help you navigate the turns.

Other tips: we took a taxi to the departure point, finding it by giving the taxi driver the address for the nearby Pata Department store. We crossed the pedestrian bridge, walked back a block or two past a 7-11, then made a right turn into a small side street where the bike shop was visible from the main road. If you do the 8 am morning ride, note that we didn’t find anywhere close-by to grab a breakfast, other than the (awful) 7-11. Most food stalls were not yet operational at that time of day.

Thanks for your detailed description of your visit at Bangkok By Bike. I am pleased for your contribution and glad you had a good experience of your visit. Maybe not much to comment for me, you give the reader a good view of what it is all about. I do agree of all your advises, and just want to add it is supposed to be a biking adventure. You definitely need some experience of biking, if you want to enjoy our tours. Not advanced, but certainly not for beginners. I also like your recommendation to sit a bit low, I keep telling everyone everyday the same. Breakfast is better taken at the hotel, before getting here. Usually the hotels offer breakfast from 6 am, since almost all morning tours start at 8 am.

Very enjoyable slow bike ride through regular neighborhoods on small paths along canals and through side streets. Enjoyed lunch, visit to a small market, and boat ride also. Guide (Sugar) was very friendly with good English. Breaks were a bit long would be my only complaint.

Thanks for your review and description of our bike tour. I am glad you had a good time and enjoyed the tour. The length of the stops is a kind of compromise, people are different and some want to ask and talk a lot, others prefer more biking. In general, I think we have found a good mix of everything, after doing this business for 15 years. I remember, in the beginning we tend to bike more and talk less, but I have changed the arrangement since I learnt many people want to get as much information as possible. We try also not to make our tours like a fitness pass. Our normal customer is not here for just biking, but to get some knowledge about the Thai tradition, culture and lifestyle. Anyway, I got your point and will be aware of it for the future.

Very friendly staff. Great to just cycle around the backstreets taking in the sights and smells and meeting so many friendly locals. The refreshments were local and of a good standard. Thoroughly recommend if you want to do something different for a few hours.

The tour together with Arne and the group( one more person) was great. It gave you another perspective on Bangkok and you saw things and place you would not do if you stayed around the tourist places.
Easy to recommend if you want to do something different.
