We booked tickets for the calypso show for our last evening in Bangkok before we flew home after visiting Phuket and Krabi. This is billed as the best show in Bangkok and we had been looking forward to it but a little apprehensive after some of the reviews. We are open minded people and not easily offended so we carried on regardless of the indifferent reviews and arrived for the 7:30 performance. On arrival we were led to are seats which were located second row back so a good view of the stage and the theatre has a good authentic look of a cabaret venue. We were served out free drinks of a Gin & Tonic and a Strawberry Daiquiri which were as expected average alcohol content. The show then began and we quickly realised that most of the negative reviews do have a lot of truth in them, we did expect the show to be lipped synced but we did expect them to know the words to the songs!!! The show is only one hour long but after 20 minutes of average content we did feel like leaving but at 60 euros for two tickets and not being rude people we stuck it out to the end. I think the main problem here is the actual song content as this show is very dated and some of the songs are bizarre to say the least, you do get a mix of old and modern but I think most people would like to see more of the up to date acts like Kylie, Beyoncé and Madonna with a few funny songs thrown in. Some of the dancers were very good but some just looked like they were going through the motions and it all lacked a bit of atmosphere and crowd participation. There are a lot of people in the show and some of the costumes are good and the changes are quick but I think it needs more quality than quantity as this show needs a fresh start. We are so glad that we had already seen some fantastic shows at nightclubs in the gay quarter in Patong, these were free to see and you only paid for drinks and tipped the acts if you thought they were good, which they were. This review is written for constructive feedback to the show as it seems we are not the only people saying the same thing, it would be a shame if it were to struggle because advise by clients was ignored.

Lovely air conditioned theatre done out in a 1930's style with red lamps on the tables etc.
The price includes a drink which is great, also people say it's expensive ? Maybe if you earn a local wage but it's £18 for an hour show with an alcoholic drink ? To me that's cheap. The show itself is very international which really does reflect the audience. There are some serious undertones in the show, some amazing performances and also some light comedy moments too. My favourite ladyboy had to be the comedic relief who played Conchita among others. If you like a good cabaret this show is really worth the visit.

This cabaret ( men dressing up as women) is not for every one but is a very lavish show and very entertaining . The show is located at Asiatique by the riverfront . Asiatique is a new shopping complex on the Chao Phraya which has many shops and restaurants. Most hotels on the river will provide free shuttles by boat to and from the hotels to Asiatique. We stayed at the Hilton Milleneum and the hotel provide boat shuttles to the venue and also to the Sky train station.
We booked the cabaret on their web site ( to get a discount you have to book it at least 24 hours in advance. if you call the box office and book that way you do not get the discount /promotion.)
We booked the dinner and show package. Wth the dinner you will be entertained by traditional Thai dancing while eating . Food was Ok nothing to be excited about.

Honestly this is very low-rate. Like actually pretty bad. If you’re expecting good drag - don’t go to this show. Anyone who lives in a LGBTQ friendly city should be able to find something better than this.

They don’t even sing, they barely dance, I don’t really see the point of this. Not many people clapping in the audience other than sympathetic claps. Avoid at all costs.

First save a little money and you can buy your tickets online and save about 300 bat each instead of buying at ticket window. You also get one free drink with your ticket. A very full featured show. Atleast 30 or more performers with multiple costume changes and doing a variety of types of music with nice stage setup. Very professional. There is also plenty to do right there at the center for either shopping or grabbing a bite to eat.

This was a pricey show for Bagkok and it was quite a distance to travel to get here, but worth it. We had a lot of fun at this show. The songs had a variety of styles from different cultures with lots of American influences. I loved the Free Your Mind bit by En Vogue. The ladyboys were lovely and you had an opportunity to greet them afterward and pose for pictures if you gave them some money. There may be a bit of a wait before the show starts, but you can shop in the mall, buy a pizza at the local restaurant, or get a fish pedicure. Lots of fun if you make a night of it!

The first time we went to Thailand, we did not go to this show. Big mistake as everyone that did raved about how great it was. When we went this year, 2014, that was on our to do list. The show was great and much to our surprise lasted a good while. Lady boys and costumes were beautiful as well as the entertainment. A very entertaining evening. I do not recommend the dinner that you can buy before the show. The food was extremely hot (and we usually eat spicy foods)with spices and cold by the time it was served to us. But go see the show. Afterwards you have the opportunity to make pictures and talk with the entertainers.

It is a fun show with many good songs and some good dancing. The ticket price includes one drink. You can take photos with the dancers after the show if you would like (you should give them a tip)
