Phra -At-hit Road in Kaosan,Bangkok is important for you to become familiar with. It,s near many hostels. The Boat Pier is where you catch any Boats to travel to the City Center and other major towns in Bangkok. After boarding the boat from Phra- Ar-hit,you leave the boat after SIX stops. Then you catch the BTS Skytraim to Siam, the central connection for all attractions. All this for just a few pence, bucks. You get amazing views of all the lovely sites, including the King Palace etc. You can do these trip everyday.Get cooled off from the hot days. But check the latest return boats, usually by or before 9.00pm. Other days you can just relax in the Prhr-Ar-hit Park, just a few steps further down from the boat pier. There you can watch all the boats arriving & leaving. By night it's really a Beautiful Scenery you'll always remember from your time in Bangkok.

Phra Athit road is a cool place, there are many bars, eateries, convenient stores and above all the pier, which is call Phra Athit Pier. It means if you want to get to the other places in Bangkok, you don't have to go through the normal traffic jam in Bangkok, just go to the pier and hop on a boat and pay for the ticket but you must know the names of the piers...though you can read the signs along side of the piers... I recommend not to buy boat tickets at the piers, as it would cost you more, cause as a tourist you don't know the exact price of that specific pier so the ticket agent would likely charge you more.
Don't worry, you can pay for your ticket on board and you can save bucks... Try it and don't forget to leave your review here after exploring Phra Athit...

We wondered the street for about one hour and really enjoyed all the little shops and restaurants all around. Definitely not as busy and crowded as other mshkr streets in Bangkok.

Phra Arthit road is very lively as it has many restaurants, hostels, cafes at an affordable price.
There is a pier in this road which you can ride going to other intereting places for as cheap as 11-15 baht (about 50 cents)
Plenty of buses that will go to Khaosan road , Sanam Luang , Grand Palace , Mahathat road which are all busy touristy roads with places to see ( bus 524 , 33, 32,516)
Along this road there is a small alley which will lead to Rambuttri where you can shop for clothes, trinkets, and souvenirs. Just look for the Krunghtai bank which is light blue color at the corner and that alley you can find many jnteresting places. There is a nice korean restaurant there
The Phra Arthit pier has boats returning to Sathorn / Saphan Thaksin main pier until 10pm. The place is well lighted since it is beside a few hotels and pretty safe
This road you will see the Phra Sumen Fort and you can take photo of it and relax in the park. Please see photos that i have provided
Enjoy your holiday!

We went to the Fort (in the picture) in the evening when it was a bit cooler and there were plenty of people enjoying the adjoining park. Being next to the river there was a lot of activity and lights and a nice place to spend some time. Phra Athit Road is so close to Khao San Road but so different. It's much more relaxed and friendly and bohemian. Although there are stalls lining the walkway from the ferry there is no hassling to buy. In the street there are loads of restaurants. The lady at the juice bar showed us a shortcut around the temple where we ended up taking photos. It's an area where you just feel comfortable.

I agree with the previous reviewer, but consider the area to be average. Not bad, but there are lots of other neighbourhoods with similar or better characteristics. Then again, perhaps when compared with neighbouring Khao San Road (which I rate as 1-star to 2-stars in TA's rating scale), Phra Athit Road looks much better.
Especially if you're staying in the Khao San area, it's worth getting out of that ghetto and wandering down Phra Athit Road. Go to the Express Boat pier and jump on the boat to the end of the line (in both directions). Maybe have a meal at the river-front restaurant immediately adjacent to the Express Boat Pier. Note that both UNICEF and FAO are here. Walk down to the fort and park. Have a coffee in a shop not so jammed with backpackers.

This street is considerably less hectic than Khao San Road and wider and more upscale compared to nearby Rambutti. Restaurants and bars here are trendier and more pricy than what you find on the streets behind Phra Athit Road.
The most interesting attraction here is the late 18th century Phra Sumen Fort, which is only one of two remaining forts built during the time of King Rama I after the capital was moved to the east side of the Chao Praya River.
Overall, Phra Athit Road is a nice street and potentially worth spending a bit of time if you want something if you are visiting or staying in this part of Bangkok.

Adjacent to the Khao San Road, however, this little street cannot be dismissed as a tourist hub. There are quite a number of local bars devoid of tourists here. Mostly a younger crowd due to the close proximity to local Universities. Very sociable, friendly, and pleasant vibe from our experience. The live thai bands that plays most nights, were fantastic. For travelers looking for a detour from the 'face' of thailand - this unassuming street offers a small window into its heart.

I often spent dinner time chilling out on the road. Awesome and cheap street food washed down with a Chang or 5. Highly recommended experience. Met some great characters this way.

I consider it a bit of a joke reviiewing what is in essence just a Bangkok street. The only distinction is that it runs between the madness of Khao San Road near to and parallel to the Chao Praya River. On the inner side are all the usual tourist guesthouses, restaurants and massage parlors. On the river side are pricey hotels and restaurants with waterfront views. Of real interest here is mainly the street’s access to Pier 13 Phra Athit and it’s lead in to Phra Sumen Fort and park. Tip: Rather than walking on this busy, noisy street walk to the back corner of the park and walk along the river boardwalk. That is immeasurably more pleasant.
