Top ways to experience Chatuchak Park and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Chatuchak
Every weekend, thousands of tourists make their way up to this Northern Bangkok suburb to get lost in an enormous maze of shops at the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Home to almost 10,000 vendors, you’ll find everything from vintage sneakers to comic books and Thai handicrafts being sold here. You name it, Chatuchack probably sells it. The market is a great place to pick up souvenirs, but be sure to bargain for a good price. After a day of shopping and strolling around, the lush green lanes of Chatuchak Park are a welcome relief.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A great park to have a long walk or run in. It takes you out of the loud city and into a much more peaceful atmosphere. We even got to see a monitor lizard as well!

Highly recommend a visit.

We walked through this park as well as the Rot Fai Park across the road before heading towards the weekend markets. This park has a simple trail which would be good for running. It’s flat and quite exposed to the sun. It would be great for a picnic also if you found a nice tree to relax by. We got here by walking from our accommodation and the park itself was only an approximate 3km loop!

Well manicured and lovely park. Lots of walking and cycling paths. Huge lake to walk around or sit and have a picnic. Nice bridges for photo opportunities. Lots of shaded benches to rest.

Very convenient to get to via MTR or BTS. It also connects to nearby Queen Sirikit Park

Although we did not spend much time at the park due to time constraints but did enjoy local cheap shopping at the Chatuchak Market which is highly recommended. A word of advice, explore the entire market before you start buying as different sections have competitive prices for the same goods and bargain as much as you can.

The park is much bigger than Lumpini Park and not in downtown, but access is quite easy from the Mo Chit BTS station. You can rent bicycles, and there is a 'Youth Traffic Garden' where kids can practice traffic sign recognition and following the rules of the road. The park has also a railway museum. Our family has spent a few pleasant mornings or afternoons. Probably only the Train Museum is interesting for a normal tourist, but it is a nice place to go and relax.

I arrived at 7.30am and experienced the local people enjoying this delightful park . The lake and the bridges were very photogenic. A vast array of unusual trees many out in flower blossom. The park authority have labelled many. Came across the famous Banyan Tree. I combined the visit with a trip to the weekend market which is close by.
