As you would expect this road is a proper tourist area that can sell you just about anything you need (and a lot you don't) good to go to though. Just beware your bags and phones, especially at night.

Khao San Road is the Thai equivalent of the Magaluf Strip. Everything is done to rip off the tourists but is a Mecca for meeting other people and having a good night. The food is overpriced relative to elsewhere but if you want souvenirs this is the place to go.

Busier than ever, the Khao San Road still oozes some of its past character, though the Boots and McDonalds do little to enhance the area, luckily hemmed in by an abundance of Thai food stalls and independent shops & bars. For many the best vibe is to be found off the main drag, try exploring one of the many alleys... More

Khao San Road in 2010 was a spectacle, however now it's even more crowded, had less bars and clubs and there are more people asking you t buy suits, bands, scorpions amongst other things. If you want a market go to Patpong night market 6pm-1am every day, or head north to some more traditional Thai markets.

What a party street, avoid tuk tuk guys, just get a local taxi, less expensive. Also, drop around the corner to the mint. Walk the streets, see a Fakir. Place was interesting, loud and good for young people who like dancing in the streets.

What else...you could find anythin' more here than any where else ...bed bugs budget room....plenty of tailor shops,Tuk-Tuk waiting for victims,Tattoo shops,con-artist jewelers, bar of no fashion and more crooked authorities than other part of the city...so just don't get into trouble dealing with the cops...it's always about money talk. Always to make sure exactly where you are..never asked strangers for... More

It was good to spend money. The clothes and shoes and bags are cheap and good. Bt the way, they sell so many fake adidas and nike.

You haven't experienced Bangkok if you haven't been here. Get a massage, eat a few beatles and have a beer. Watch people and laugh while you clutch on to your bags of course. Let all your senses experience true Thai culture.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
