wat phan temple

It was an interesting viewpoint down near the old wall. We just happened upon it. I liked the interesting details on the all the walls.

Your likely to pass it located on the main walking street. Not a must, but worth stopping by if you are walking past

To be honest, this Wat is conveniently located. Of the many Wat's in Chiang Mai, I wouldn't say this is a must but you are likely to pass it as it is located on the main walking street. If you do, pop in. Very small. Well kept. What I liked about it, if you walk around are the little 'sayings' or 'teachings' about life. Very interesting and makes you think. There appeared to be a small museum inside which was closed at the time of C-19. As you exit, there is a noodle restaurant filled with locals. Very cheap too. There is also a shop selling various items using coconut oil.

Like many others in Chiang Mai

On the way to Wat Chedi Luang we stopped here, like many others it’s small complex of temples and tourist hunting pictures. Many street sellers inside selling decorations or souvenirs. Unfortunately big crowds and many souvenirs sellers

A temple with a beautiful pagoda.

This small temple is located on the Tha Pae Walking Street within the walled city. Every Sunday it transforms into a street market. It was constructed by Lanna King Mueang Kaeo in early 1500’s. It is the home of a classic gold Chedi called Sareerikkatartsirirak Pagoda. It has a double storied Viharn. You can see beautiful icons depicting Buddhist mythology in this complex. In the temple courtyard you can see a huge tree and rows of bells which the worshippers ring after praying here.

The place to go early evening...

Lovely temple. Slightly different than others. Great architecture with a green budha. Great chedi in front. It's very quiet as there are little tourists. But when the night falls, its illuminated and a market gives a life to the place. Try it. Close to restaurants-even better, taste street food there ;)

Busy Temple

Located off Walking Street just inside the walled city this beautiful pagoda / temple appears. It is free to wander around but you are limited to what you can explore due some renovations. The many bells are interesting as is the small Buddha by the tree with a moat around it - I have seen some stunning pictures with lanterns and lights in this area.

Quiet temple, beautiful tree, excellent tok sen

This is one of my favorite low key temples. It has a sacred tree and is laid back in a friendly quiet neighborhood close to Chiang Mai gate.

There is a small place to get a massage. They do excellent tok sen and the environment is very relaxing & beautiful. You do change behind a small curtained area and otherwise it is a shared space with mats next to each other. So more authentic than spa. Prices are very reasonable and my experience has been excellent.

Yes, this place is calm and relax, but it's just a small temple. Like going to a small town church in the middle of the week. This place better be left untouristic in my opinion.

Another temple with roosters!

I passed by this temple on my second visit of the Wat Chedi Luang Temple. What I remember most about my visit here is the small fountain with 2 statues of roosters.

I still do not know the connections between the roosters and temples! I had the same question after visiting a beautiful
temple in Ayutthaya with roosters in front of it and those circling the monument of a king.

First Wat on Left After Tha Phae Gate

When you enter the old city via Tha Phae Gate you have the advantage of seeing many temples. This is the first on the left side of the road as you head west. Don't pass it by as it is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are wonderful and the gold Buddha needs to be seen. The gold clad pagoda near the temple is named Sareerkkatartrirak Pagoda by His majesty King Bhumipol. The grounds to walk through are serene and lovely.
