About
Elephant Rescue Park is a new home for rescued elephants, located in the green valley of Chiang Mai. Our primary objective here is to rescue and help poor elephants from circuses, hard work, mistreatment and accidents. We provide a safe loving and secure environment for all the elephants that come and live with us. We try to keep them happy and healthy as they should be in natural surroundings as domestic animals but this can only be achieved with your help and support. Come and join us today. Don’t forget, all monies raised from our tours goes straight to our elephants for food and medicine and towards rescuing new ones. You’ll get to feed them, walk with them, hug them, play with them, bathe with them and so much more. Welcome everyone who has love and kindness for these adorable creatures to get such a great experience with us.

This is THE place to go for elephant experiences near Chiang Mai. My parents and I very much enjoyed the half day tour. The day started with an easy pickup in a luxury van at our hotel (137 Pillars) in the morning, and after a few stops to pick up 9 other travelers we were on our way to the Rescue Park. Our tour guide, Andy, gave us a great overview of the city as we drove through it. He memorized everyone’s names on the trip and provided interesting and funny commentary on the way up.
The entire experience was extremely well organized. We were handed unique outfits (which made for some great photo ops!) to change into and we’re given some background on what makes this park different from the surrounding ones. You can truly see how this park is incredibly humane and takes very good care of its 10 elephants, giving each good attention, space, and saving them from the logging and riding industries.
We also got the photo package, which was well worth it. We had over 100 photos taken of us as we fed, walked with, and washed the elephants. I would recommend the half day tour, as I don’t think the full day tour provides a lot of additional experiences and we felt that a half day was plenty of time with the elephants.
This will truly be an unforgettable experience for anyone visiting Chiang Mai. Everyone was so kind and personable, and we met so many other great people through this experience. Thank you for doing the great work and offering the best elephant day we could possibly have!

Had a blast with Kid the owner in our private morning tour! Kid was knowledgeable and passionate about the elephants in his care which gave us the reassuring feeling that the elephants were being treated well. We began the morning tour with a hotel pick up which was prompt and seamless. We arrived and were given the opportunity to eat/drink before changing and getting our informational speech about the sanctuary from Kid himself. Then we got to meet the elephants and introduce ourselves before our trek in the woods. The trek was great and kid took the time to tell us about the area and local plants and their healing properties. We then got to watch the elephant handlers wash the elephants and we got to join in. The elephants were playful and calm we felt safe the entire time despite being in close proximity. Then we got photo opportunities which was amazing to capture the once in a lifetime day. Then we had a wonderful lunch cooked on site and got a surprising treat which was to see the one month old baby elephant! On the way home our driver took us to a local national park and we saw some waterfalls. Highly highly recommend this tour/visit!

We had the most amazing visit to the Elephant Rescue Park and would highly recommend a visit to meet the elephants and learn more about their experiences at the rescue park.
We decided to arrange for the Serene Boutique Elephant Care package and didn’t regret spending a bit more. We were picked up at our hotel at 6:30 am and on the journey out to the park we learned about the elephants and their rescues from farming, circuses and mistreatment. The elephants have been rescued but remain domesticated and as such, the park offers them a safe home and gentle life.
Our package allowed us (my husband and I) to be the only guests with 2 elephants, their handler and our guide. We started our morning by changing into the centre clothing that the elephants are familiar with then meeting and greeting the elephants. We fed them a range of food suitable for their diets and then took an amazing walk into the hills with them, going at their pace and wandering beside them. After about an hour or so, we then walked down to a reservoir area and went into the water with them to give them a wash a scrub. The elephants appeared very relaxed and at ease the whole time. When asked, they also enjoyed playing a few tricks on us by splashing us and getting us wet.
We then returned up to the centre and had a delicious lunch before heading back to our hotel. En route we visited the Elephant Poo Poo Paper Park which was fun and interesting.
We would highly recommend spending the extra money to have your private time with the elephants and their handlers. It is well worth the money for the great interactions you have during your visit.

We visited this elephant camp, which we expected to see freely. But on the contrary, they used the elephants to make money, but the elephants that they gave to tourists to watch were tortured. The elephant sanctuary was just a small place, not enough for elephants to walk around. The elephants were chained and confined without any freedom. I think it is very disgusting that they used elephants to do this. I would like to say that it is more of a business than an animal rescue. Tourists should consider animal rights more than just having fun with animals by taking elephants to bathe several times a day. This is a complete threat to the freedom and well-being of animals. I would like to say that it is just a business, not an animal rescue.

Sorry to hear this feedback from you.
There must be misunderstanding about the place because our tour is opposite your description. Our park is so so big (160,000 square meters with 10 elephants ) where they can roam for free and do any natural habits. We always put them for free with their handlers in the mountain without the chain so that they could get variety of natural food.
We are not as you described in this review.
Our team has worked so hard to rescue and provide good care to help these poor elephants from mistreatment, exploitation and accidents for years.
Regarding to numbers of reviews that we got from people who have been to our park, more than 1,700 were Exellent ! That means we have such a good reference because they understood and knew our work in helping elephants.
We have checked completely and not found your record as visitor in our park. If you would like to know about our work, please come and try this great experience with us.

My best experience in Thailand. We did a private tour for two and it was really an amazing experience. First we were picked up by our two guards Mr. Andy and Mr. Choy by car. Both spoke fluent English and were super friendly. After we arrived at the elephant camp, we were given special clothing (trousers, top) according to our size. We were given an introduction and explanation about elephants (it was very informative and interesting). After that we were allowed to get up close and personal with the elephants for the first time and feed them fruit. We then went on a hike with the elephants through the jungle until we finally came to a lake/watering hole. Here we bathed with the elephants and cleaned them. Afterwards a freshly cooked meal was waiting for us (it tasted great). The trip lasted about 4 hours (+ 1 hour drive each way) it was really breathtaking and I can highly recommend it to everyone. (My girlfriend did this trip for the 2nd time and it was a great experience for her again)

One of the best experiences we’ve had in our 5 months travelling the world. For starters, the owner Mr Kid is really knowledgable on everything to do with elephants and their welfare, these are rescued elephants from the circus, logging etc and you can really tell he has the passion and care to change these elephants life. He sat with us for 2 hours on the night time (as we done the overnight stay) to educate us about the elephants, the history of the rescue park and the fact he even remortgaged his own house just to get one elephant away from the circus! He and all of the other guides and mahouts made the experience unforgettable. The overnight stay was great and I’d definitely recommend that, it is a little pricier however you get all meals included as well as an overnight stay in the cabin which has everything you need. Plus if you spend more money, more goes towards the elephants well-being and car which for me is a big positive. You get to walk the elephants up the mountains, bathe them as well as play with them and enjoy their company. They are expertly taking care of by all staff and their mahouts and you can really tell they care for these elephants, they all have their individual names and are all cared for individually with different diets! A lot of work goes into this rescue park and I have not spoke to an owner of a business who has cared so much not just for the elephants but for his staff and his family too, it was a real pleasure to experience this, you MUST go for the overnight tour. It is a way more personal than experience, me, my girlfriend and our 2 friends thoroughly enjoyed the full trip. Thanks Mr Kid and all of the staff and elephants, shout-out to our baby Buma hope you’re doing well !!

What an incredible experience that I would highly recommend that everyone try when they come to Chiang Mai! Having been to elephant rescues before we thought we knew what to expect but were still pleasantly impressed:) the skilled driver and his trusty guide sidekick picked us up down the street from our bnb at 8 am and drove us with multiple couples out to the sanctuary about an hour out of the city. The ride was pleasant, there was AC, and bottled water. Along the way they also told us about the sanctuary and elephant facts.
Upon arrival we were given uniforms to wear, straw hats to protect from the sun, and black rubber boots (recommend bringing high socks and not ankle ones). The facilities are nice and first things first we learned about the elephants, their names, and where they were rescued from. Also we were told the standard safety tips when dealing with giant animals.
We followed the guide across the street and there they were, 7 giant pachyderms just waiting for us to feed them tasty bananas. So feeding them, walking through the mountains with them, then bathing them- which ended up in a water fight- us vs the elephants, guess who won? ;)
After getting back and changing we were provided a delicious lunch and then taken back to our drop off points. I should mention that after lunch the owner came over to talk to us and tell us about the work they’ve been doing and the good legislature he’s been getting pushed through on behalf of these animals. These really are amazing people and we are glad we got to do this again in our lives! Highest of recommendations!!

Thanks very much for your feed back.
Our goal is to make these pachyderms happy as much as we can. You should also be proud of yourself as a part of this mission to make direct support by doing the tour with us.
Every payment is the funds for taking care of them.

Forget all the other options and choose Elephant Rescue. They were well organised, picking us up from our hotel and offering some introductory info during the van trip which took about 1hr 20mins.
Wear swimmers so it's easy for you to put on the uniform they provide for everyone. There are lockers, coffee/drinks, toilets and showers for after you bathe the elephants. I recommend the full day experience where you get to make vitamin balls for elephants, feed them, sit and watch them in a stream, walk with them, observe them finding their own food and bathe them in a watering hole in the afternoon. There are many photo opportunities and for a cheap price a photographer there can capture every moment and she sends through all the photos she's taken of you. They provide lovely lunch and coconut drink plus snack at the very end. It is wonderful to see how they are rescuing elephants and giving them a wonderful life here. One of the best experiences - you won't regret choosing this one!

First of all, please understand that there are many elephant parks in chiang mai but not all of them are ethical! Some rent elephants whereas this place owns all of their elephants and this place focuses on rehabilitation & rescue of elephants from manual labor, riding, and circus life.
Our private tour experience was very enjoyable and memorable. The private tour was more expensive but we wouldn’t have wanted to do it any other way because we got a lot of quality time with our tour guide & with the elephants. The tour included feeding the elephants fruit, walking with them through nature & helping wash them in a nearby lake which they absolutely adored because elephants love water! There was also water buffalo in the fields. We then had a private lunch with a beautiful view of the animals and fields and because it was a private tour, the meal was enjoyed by the two of us in a separate area.
BIG REC: spend the additional dollars to tag on the Sticky Waterfall adventure. It was extremely beautiful, fun, and adventurous. We got to climb a waterfall!
The tour itself was incredible but our tour guide Andy is what made it more special. He was knowledgeable, kind, and made us feel very comfortable throughout the experience.

Had the pleasure of visiting the elephant rescue park today and the experience didn’t disappoint one bit. From being collected at our hotel until we were returned the whole day was amazing. After arriving and getting dressed in local attire suitable for what we were going to be doing that day. We spent time learning about the elephants that had been rescued from logging, circuses and used for rides. We then had the opportunity to prepare food for one of their oldest elephants who no longer had any teeth. She was eagerly awaiting us as we arrived with our tray of goodies and was the perfect lady as we fed her firstly the herbal medicine we had prepared and then more bananas than I cared to count 😊. We then made a fuss of her and watched as she found a tree to scratch an itch. We then left her to rest while we were generously fed and watered ourselves and relaxed before we headed for the afternoon’s activities. We changed into some wellies gathered some coconuts and bananas and headed to visit another heard of elephants who were relaxing but soon got excited when they saw us arrive with a large bucket of bananas and coconuts. There were 4 adult females and one male and we proceeded as a group of 4 to feed these wonderful majestic animals until all the fruit was gone. Then accompanied by their handlers we had the pleasure of walking beside them on a trek until we reached a large stream where the could drink and cool down. Along the way the elephants helped themselves to what ever food took their fancy and wondered off exploring at every opportunity. Once they had the opportunity to drink and cool down we were all led to a lake when we all had the opportunity to bathe these beautiful animals an experience I shall remember for all my days. This is most definitely the highlight of my trip to Thailand and I can’t thank them enough for this amazing experience. Our guide effortlessly led us and made this a truly memorable trip.

I recently submitted a booking request form for a couple months from now, but in the email confirmation I received, they mentioned they are no longer taking credit card deposits and it’s all cash to be paid day of the tour. This felt a bit odd to me, and given the disclaimer on their website that there are other similarly named location, I wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience or if this is incorrect?
