Not what we expected. Fully crowded, long run from ko phangan, and dead coral. 400 usd for the family its a scam. Avoit it at all cost. Weve beeen to philipina and belize and the snokeling was top. But ko tao shouldnt be advetise as a snorkeling spot anymore

Great snorkelling and enjoyable food at Nang Yuang ! Visibility was good and coral and fish stunning. It wasn’t as busy as expected - apparently due Coronavirus reducing Chinese visitor numbers.
We also didn’t experience anyone rude or unpleasant as per previous reports. I wish I’d had more time - the Japanese Gardens were beautiful. The seaward side of the sand bank all dead so don’t bother. Ok on the pier side but not as good as the gardens. Worth the trip !

The trip with the speedboat is like an adventure if the sea is a little bad.
My girlfriend and I owed to stop to Kho Phangan because we were not sitted the waves flushing us , I vomited ,she was scared, the boat was totally out of control.
15 people on 20 left the boat for the owful conditions and the bad organized staff boat.
The travel agency didn't give us back money.
Pay a lot of attention .
Thai people for 1000bath get trow a tsunami too with a raft.
Pay attention...
Trip to avoid

If you come to Koh Tao island Thailand, this activity is a must. The under water world here is still very rich and beautiful, unfortunately I didn’t have go pro or my waterproof film camera with me, so I didn’t have chance in taking photo under the sea. If you like free dive, diving with instrument, or snorkeling this is a place for you. There are many diving school here as well, since many ppl come to get a diving license. I give 10 out of 10 for this activity !!!

We were very excited to visit these islands as the snorkelling was meant to be incredible. Sadly it was not as expected. Most of the coral is dead and although there were a few fish - not that many and certainly not a glorious array of colour! Plus the place was really busy - and we were there in low season! It’s a long, almost 2 hour (can be shorter in different sea conditions) speed boat ride from Ko Samui which is uncomfortable and sometimes quite scary if the sea is choppy. Not an experience we would wish to repeat.

Average snorkeling but Koh Tao was absolutely stunning. Make sure you hike to the top of the mountain to the view point. It has a bar the option to snorkel with lots of fish.

I used Mr Tu's from near Bangrak pier. Pick up at hotel included. Light breakfast was banana, toast and instant coffee. 1 1/2 hours on LOUD speed boat carrying 45 people, so with 3+ speedboats, crowded. Fish pretty but NOT abundant at any stop. Coral is in terrible condition (dying). Beaches are not sand. Hike to viewpoint is crowded too. Beaches have chairs but cost $5 USD to rent. Buffet lunch was okay, lots of choices, but not kept hot and only water offered. No bowls for the soup. This place is pretty but moves the people through like cattle. The weather was perfect but the swells on the ocean increase in the afternoon so the ride back is extremely rough!!! I lost my lunch after the first 15 minutes. Than again 20 minutes later and a third time 20 minutes after that. They should give out ear plugs and barf bags. The open air boat had a tip cover and side walls so the air did not follow well - hot and stuffy and loud. Miserable 1 1/2 hours back. Disappointed in the coral and crowds, but the ride back was the clincher - if you get seasick DONT DO IT!

Very disappointing. We had been told that Koh Tao offered the best snorkeling around Koh Samui. That may have been true.....7 or 8 years ago, but sadly, not now. The trip by speedboat takes 1.5 hours to get there, and on a windy, wavey day like we had, 2.5 brutal hours to return to Koh Samui.

We snorkeled at 2 spots. Neither had any colourful coral. A few fish were seen, but nowhere near the number and variety that we had been expecting.

My partner and I decided to do this for Xmas day as we had had such an amazing experience snorkelling in Ko Lanta. We thought, why not try the same whilst in Ko Samui. Mistake number one. So after forking out almost £90 for the both of us we were excited for the following day. Mistake number two.

First our ride turns up half an hour after they are expected but it’s xmas so we’re not too fussed about this. When we arrive at the docks, we are confronted by what looks like tourist city. Having done a similar tour in Ko Lanta with a max of maybe 25 people, we are now confronted with hoardes of tourists milling around in front of us. In any event, we get our wristbands and prepare to board. The boat is a bit full but not enough that it’s uncomfortable. Or so we think. Mistake number three. We are then informed that we are going to stop at another port to pick up even more passengers. When we get to this port, a ton of utterly obnoxious tourists pile on and the boat goes from comfortable to flat out cramped. Plus some guy thinks it’s acceptable to spread his legs onto me whilst he sleeps.

Finally we reach Koh Nang Yuan which is rammed full of tourists already there. My boyfriend and I decide to go to the viewpoint thinking it will be less crowded than the beach. Mistake number four. There is an epic queue with the earlier mentioned obnoxious tourists shoving their way forward and blocking the path of those coming down, thereby contributing to there being an even bigger jam of people. Eventually we get on to this rock only to find out it is about the same size as a double bed with more people than is safe crowded onto it. At the point, I’m done and clamber back down.

Although the beach is rammed, my partner and I put on our snorkelling gear as most people are more preoccupied with selfies than swimming and we go out in search of nature. Mistake number five. The coral is dead on both sides of the beach and there is little if any fish to be seen. In the end, we end up leaving the water only to find we still have an hour left before we leave. The lunch is buffet style and as awful as the trip so far.

Finally we leave to go to Koh Tao where our hopes are a little higher having heard this is the place to go for snorkelling and diving. Mistake number six. The coral here is also dead, there are non-swimmers in life vests flailing about everywhere and barely any fish. We also have to jump off the boat as we do not actually dock on the island. After this further disappointment, we then have to suffer the tinny music being emitted from a crappy speaker belonging to one of the obnoxious tourists who boarded earlier.

All in all, an absolutely terrible day with zero redeeming features and an absolute waste of money. If you enjoy travelling like cattle, dead coral and being ripped off then I would recommend you take this tour. Otherwise, don’t waste your money or your precious time.

Great island and good staffs. "เชษฐ์" is a good guide, he know which path is the best for snorkeling. Thank so much.
