The place is currently under renovation. So the ceiling of the praying hall Ist covered sometime.
The Temple it self overs 3 Praying areas and the Iran you need to pray can be brought at the temple.
Entry fee is 20 Bath and you get a handmade fabric bracelet. The staff is very friends I also good a water and you can order some food mostly Thai food.
The renovation kind hindernyou to have a full experience but it’s nice to see how such a small temple gets renovation.
The terrace gets quieter hot keep that in mind since you are not allowed to wear shoes on it - respect the cbuddist culture!
All in all a little to focused on the airport but any aviation geek would have fun for sure. Nice views to chaweng also possible.
As a tourist 30minuten are enough
But if you wanna pray bringt more time.

This beautiful temple is located in the south of Koh Samui above Hua Thanon Beach. One can also walk from the beach via staircase. It is a Buddhist Temple and a lot of locals come here to worship. There are very nice artworls, statues and sculptures depicting Buddhist art and culture which are worth seeing. The beach view from the top is excellent. It is open from 9 AM to % PM. A proper dress code is required to respect Thai religion.

For the red temple, it has intricate carvings inside and outside, but it is really small (one hall). Have other sculptures and buildings outside as well but they don't look much different compared to other temples. It leads to a beach.

When you visit thai buddhist temples and especially on Samui, your eyes tend to start getting overfilled with colors, hundreds of them, everywhere.
This temple really makes a difference, being all made of clay and unpainted, I think it gives a much classier sense. Given the few good option on the island, I do recommend!

Love it, this Wat Sila Ngu is picturesk due to the red clay color, no fee but you should dress properly and it's near the overlap stone 💕 Add to your list when you are planning for Koh Samui's trip!

Wat Sila Ngu Temple or Wat Ratchathammaram is situated on a steep coast by the ring road on the way from Lamai Beach to the settlement Hua Thanon. It is very easy to notice from the road: it catches your eye with its new building – a temple of terracotta colour.
The walls and the roof of this ‘terracotta’ temple are embellished with bas-reliefs and thoroughly executed sculptures. But wait until you go inside! There is Rahu, eating up the sun, above the entrance, sneaking up on you. On the left – sea demons are sticking out their heads from stormy waves and huge fish is swallowing someone. On the right – the warriors of the God of apes Hanuman are fighting. And on a carved wooden shutter, there is a man-warrior is leaving for the jungle on a huge wild boar.
The walls and the ceiling come to life just before your eyes, something important and magical is going on each square centimeter. As for the rest, it is gloomy and empty here. The only exception is big Buddha, painted in imitation of gold, he sits in farthest corner of the temple on the base, made of carved ceramics. They haven’t removed a polyethylene cover from him yet.

We stayed in a nearby hotel and discovered this as we walked by. Beautiful red temple, must take shoes off to enter and ideally wear respectable clothing especially covering shoulders. No midriffs showing, try not to wear shorts or swimwear.
It is disrespectful to point your feet toward a Buddha statue too.
Stunning intricate designs in the walls, you are able to take pictures, there is also another temple and we saw a monk sweeping the area too, there is a small explanation sign nearby. Worth a look if you're in the area.

A very unique red Thai temple made of red clay.
Peaceful environment and the temple compound overlooks the sea. If you are a Buddhist, the serene environment is quiet for a quick prayer. 😄
The temple is just next to the main road so it's hard to miss. It's popular with the locals too, so parking may be hard at peak times.
There's also a small market opposite the temple where you can find good Thai street food.

From the moment you walk through the gate, this Wat takes your breath away. The amazing terracotta building is so full of detail that you walk round and round it seeing different thing's. Then to go inside is something else again. Walking around the grounds leads to viewing areas of the coast, then down the snake stairs to the serene area of the beach. You can walk here from Lamai Beach.
