Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

We had a very picturesque morning on our cruise of Halong Bay. It is a UNESCO world heritage site, and a cruise is a 'must do" if you are there. Our tour was booked through the Holland America cruise we were on, and we were very pleased with all the sights we saw. We had a stop on Dau Go... More

A must if you are visiting Vietnam. Absolutely spectacular scenery in a UNESCO World Heritage site. We had a 24 hour overnight trip on the Dragon Legend, booked by our agent, which was excellent...in fact, as good as many hotels. If you can, try and take the new toll road from Hanoi, which takes 2 hrs 30 mins. Had we... More

We were advised to book an overnight cruise tour via HALONG SAPA EXPERTS website few days ago and we extremely enjoyed our cruise. We joyed the tour with 10 other travelers on a great boat. Our cabins were kept on second floor and with private balcony where we could enjoy great views of the Bay. They sailed to see caves,... More

Halong bay was a beautiful trip. When we reached the destinations and came off the boat the islands were swarming with so many tourists it was hard to walk around. If you're claustrophobic I definitely wouldn't recommend . But worth the beautiful view nonetheless.

We arrived Hanoi at 6 am. Hotel novas found a day trip to Hanoi, USD$60 per person, could've been cheaper but I like smaller group - 12 of us in one van and one ferry.

Must come, must see, must sail the waters and enjoy the mystique fog of Halong Bay in the winter seasons. It's one of those bucket list Once In A Lifetime.
