Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

It's a lot better than I expected! Many people say it's dirty but to my surprise, it was really clean. Our cruise (Legacy Cruise) took us to a very quiet bay so we didn't encounter other tourists which is great!

We did a great cruise package through HALONG SAPA EXPERTS website and it was a really amazing trip. They picked us up from our hotel in Hanoi and treated us like special guests during two days- one night tour. We visited cave and floating village and they also cooked great Vietnamese food and vegetarian fodo at meals for us. Highly... More

We booked a 2 day I night on the Syrena cruise through Halong Bay Cruises No Limit. We stayed in a twin cabin with balcony on the second level. I did a lot of pain staking research and I chose to book through Halong Bay Cruises No Limit because it made it very easy to compare the different cruises on... More

Halong Bay is a noteworthy visitor site for a justifiable reason. There are various mountain crests and different structures that are completely lovely against the skyline. It is an extremely quiet place to simply look at the exquisite landscape.

We visited Halong bay on board the Aclass Stellar Cruise and it was a stunning experience. They bay scenery was magnificent and we loved the cave visit, kayaking in the water and the food experience was fantastic. It is a pity if you miss this spot during your journey in Vietnam.

Justifiably a World Heritage Centre, this place just takes your breath away. Astonishing landscape unlike anywhere else in the world. If you travel to Vietnam, this is a must

It is about 4 hours from Hanoi. The limestone formations were gorgeous and provided interesting bays and lagoons to kayak in. I think a 3D2N cruise is just the right length to relax and enjoy the beauty of the limestone formations and bays. Any shorter would be too rushed.

Took a private boat tour of the bay. Was super beautiful and I recommend to anyone who travels to Vietnam. The boat tours are cheap and they all come with a tour guide who can speak English.

Failed all hope and expectations. Privately chartered a boat. Delayed by half hour setting to sea as captain wanted "breakfast" (most people eat before they go to work !!!) Then throughout the trip we were given the full on hard sell of rubbish "craft souvenirs" by the cabin hostess. Whilst the bay is marvelous; and in itself, well worth seeing,... More
