Hi Frans, We did a similar trip in November and flew from Hong Kong to Hanoi where we did a combination of planning our own travel but also using Trinh Thi Nhung with Buffalo Tours located at the travel desk of the Orchard Hotel. We've been to Hanoi before so arranged to go to a play "My Village" at the Hanoi Opera House and also saw a water puppet show at Thang Long. During the days, Nhung arranged a city tour and a museum/temple tour for us around Hanoi which included vans and tour guides. We then had a driver take us to Ninh Binh where we stayed at the Nimh Binh Charm Hotel. We used Hanoi Explore Travel which was the travel agency at the hotel. Our tour guide, Thoa, was excellent and we was with us for a 3 day tour of the rivers, caves, and temples. From Nimh Binh we flew on Vietjet to Danang and stayed at La Siesta Resort in Hoi-An which is an amazing place to visit. One of the days in Hoi-An, we used Nhung from Bufalo Tours to arrange a trip to BaNa Hills which was wonderful. On previous trips to Hanoi, we went to Ha Long Bay and used Paradise Cruises who arranged pick up and drop off from Hanoi. We did the overnight cruise and had the whole boat to ourselves. (We were in a group of 6 but they will give you a boat large enough for your family). For prices, I would suggest that you write to Nhung for possible itineraries and the prices (they were very reasonable). In Nimh Binh, the tour guide for 3 days was about $90 but we didn't need a van or driver. Have a great trip.
