It was a park adjacent to Hanoi Central Post Office. When I was walking around Hoan Kiem Lake, I found a large statue and checked it on a map, and found that the whole area had been developed into a long and narrow park with the statue of Lee Tai Tho. If we had a chance, we could take a rest, but we only wanted to visit the attractive places and cafes around Hoan Kiem Lake.

Didn’t read much about the history of this site prior to my visitation. Apparently, emperor Ly was the founding member of the Ly dynasty. I found the history very similar to the Chinese one. Anyway, the place was well kept and we took some pictures there. Think only need to spend around 15 minutes and it was located very close to the lake. Maybe reading up a bit of its history will make it a more interesting place to visit.

This was a nice open park facing Sword Lake. It not your typical green park but completely tiled with trees around the edges. The tiles make it suitable for a number of different activities.

The statue stands out all in black but not much in the way of a description nearby. I looked him up online and found out he was the 6th King of Vietnam.

Driving the weekend the park was filled with stages setup up for the 2022 ASEAN Police Band Concert. During my morning walk those stages had since been removed and the park was once more wide open and a much nicer stop for a few minutes.

Central located and you will pass by for sure during your stay in Hanoi. Best experience can come in the early morning when you can drop by and join the local group practising Laughing Yoga. During the day it's quite quiet, until late afternoon when it filled up with local families, school kids, young artist group rehearsal, tourist...
Nice to grab a glimpse of local life.

This review is quite late. The Ly Thai To Park is major city landmark in Hanoi. We passed by this park on our way to the Opera House from the Hoan Kiem Lake. Since it was mid day we were all alone and no other soul was around.

On our tour around the lake, we spotted this park tucked across the street facing the lake, a square with a majestic statue. Crossing the infamously unruly traffic of Vietnam, we reached Lý Thái Tổ garden,

Standing tall and lonely in the middle of the square, the statue held a scroll on his right, suggesting his relationship to scholarly wisdom. And reading his biography during my research for this entry, I was enlightened to his significance and importance to Hanoi in particular, so much so that a statue was erected near to a famous landmark.

The statue would get its companions in the form of camera toting tourists and strolling locals. An occasional couple or family would stop by the square to enjoy the spacious ground, a luxury hard to come by in the city center of Hanoi. Twirls of smoke wafted from the bowl of incense holder placed at the foot of the majestic emperor, fluttering to nothing as the wind blow past.

This parc on the eastern side of the lake is a good spot to relax. Behind the statue of Lý Thái Tổ is a nice kiosk and plenty of park benches in the shade. In the early morning groups, mainly ladies, exercise or dance. Nice to watch!

Chanced upon this attraction while walking around the Hoan Kiem Lake. Saw some tourists flocking the area so I followed.

The statue apparently was that of Ly Thai To, an emperor who founded was it now Hanoi. Kids played with their skateboards in this area of the park while some mature ladies were grouped together having a lively chat among themselves.

A nice park to visit.

Many locals takes it as the playground for Taichi, football, biking even though it is little bit small. they know well how to give space to each other. It is crowded at every weekend.
