Bloom Microventures is a non-profit social business (registered UK charity) providing microcredit to entrepreneurs living below the poverty line in developing countries using a unique model that harnesses the power of responsible tourism with microcredit to alleviate poverty.Bloom Microventures offers unique and authentic day tours to the rural countryside of Soc Son, just 40km north of Hanoi, that give you a chance to explore a side of Vietnam very few tourists will ever experience while making a major difference to the lives of local Vietnamese farmers. The tour will include actively engaging in and learning about community development by providing a microloan to a woman we are going to meet, a traditional lunch and a selection of the following activities: learning about and even trying rice and tomato farming, a bicycle ride through the countryside, a walk through the beautiful forests, trying your hand at traditional fishing, visiting the location of a mystical historical legend and exploring a temple complex!

I thought I understood what a micro-loan was. A small amount of money. I've discovered that it is so much more than that - this is changing lives, culture and futures without damaging the way of life of the people. This is what Bloom call Responsible Tourism - going to see how things really are without building a huge hotel... More

There was just two of us on the tour with Lo an, our guide and Mr Kwan as the driver to the village, which the project has been going on for 3 years. The idea as Lo an explained to us during the drive is to help women in the countryside to start their own businesses using the micro loan.... More

This is really one of the best things you can do as a tourist in Vietnam. I've lived here a long time and done pretty much all the tourism stuff there is in Hanoi. The tours I went on were excellent - everything is well organised, authentic, and socially responsible. The tour guides have extremely high levels of customer service,... More

I spent the day with Ly, one of Bloom's field officers, visiting two women who are invovled in the mircroloan project. It was a unique opportunity to learn more about how many Vietnamese live, and see a side of the country that you won't find on the tourist circuit. It was really important to me to get that perspective during... More

We recently spent a great day with Ly, visiting a village in the Hoa Binh area. The reasons for the village were many. We had a chance to interact with the villagers, see some beautiful countryside and meet the young woman that would receive a loan partially funded by our tour fee. Although the day was hot, we still enjoyed... More

We have been traveling in Asia for four months, in Taiwan, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Lao, and VietNam, and our day trip with Bloom is without question one of the most memorable things we have done. The opportunity to get off the well worn tourist track and learn something about life in the rural provinces was invaluable. Our guide Chi is... More

I was glad that we visited Phu Minh with Bloom Microventures. We departed Hanoi at 8am and returned by 6pm. Loved the activities that were organized (e.g. making sweet dumplings and weaving baskets) and learned many interesting things about the community and Bloom's work there. If only the weather was better! A more detailed review could be found at https://mylongwaydown.wordpress.com/2015/01/19/hanoiiiii-pt-vi-bloom-microventures-tour/

Spent a very relaxing day in Hoa Binh. Our tour guide Lonh was very friendly and knowledgable, giving us insight into the village as well as general social commentary in Vietnam. Spent time with our loanee and uprooted some cassava trees with an excitable but not so strong 3 year old boy, and then went to lunch at the eco-lodge.... More
