As you make your way past the presidential palace, the 1954 house and the stilt house, there is a pond, and some gardens. It's nice, but just part of the package of the complex. Don't you dare come just for the gardens! And like the previous reviewer, I saw the peacocks in cages, but no monkeys.

We enjoyed walking around the lakes and loved the artworks. We didn't see the monkeys, just one peacock in a cage. We were there just before Tet so maybe the park had just been cleaned up, like everything else in Hanoi at this time. The sculptures were worth the visit for us.

Nothing much to see, the place looks quite neglected. With unnecessary locked up monkeys in a small cage as well as a few birds :(

This is a pleasant park, but nothing worth making a special trip to. If you are staying the the area and need a place to walk, fine.

Vuon Bach Thao isn't worth your time unless your in the area (around the palace and military museum), and even then, going for a coffee or lunch is a better choice. The reason is that it is not very well maintained. There are monkeys in metal cages that look like they're ready to go to monkey heaven, the grass wasn't... More

Can't describe this 'attraction' as anything other than just a small, average park with two small ponds/lakes. By no stretch of the imagination could it be described as a Botanical Garden. 2000VND entry free. I know that's only about 7 pence, but I didn't see any of the locals being asked for it. Squalid toilets. As others have mentioned, three... More

We thought the big cages were empty, only concrete and wire fencing but once we got closer we realised there were animals inside. 2 peacocks in one dirty empty cages and a family of monkeys in another one further down. Very sad and cruel. The park itself was empty and cold no bugs birds and animals, just cut grass and... More

A Small entrance fee brought us into this little hideaway: the most amazing thing about this is the peace and quiet that you get in here: so close to the middle of town. Bring a flask of green tea or vietnamese iced coffee and enjoy sitting next to the lake.

to describe this as a botanical garden is wrong. It is an urban park with some interesting trees, awful toilets, litter (welcome to Vietnam) a very very sad monkey in a cage and an even sadder peakcock in a cage. Hanoi - free the animals, clean up the litter and the toilets this is 2016 and you are a tourist... More

The park is ok as it gives you a place to go with nice shady trees and some ponds and pathways to walk around. So it is a nice change to the rest of the city but you are close to the roads so it is still quite noisy. There are also some caged birds and monkeys to look at... More
