At the heart of the "Old Quarter" stands the beautiful "Hanoi Opera House"! It was built around 1911 and modeled after Paris' "Opéra Garnier", with clear characteristics of French neoclassical architecture and also with gothic pillars and domes. It is certainly a Hanoi landmark! It was renovated in 1977 to its full glory and is absolutely magnicent! From its 600 seats, one can enjoy spectacles as Vietnamese operas, ballets, as well as traditional folk music and international concerts. The Opera House is in the centre of Hanoi and so big and imposing amongst its surroundings it can't be missed . French architecture I believe and built in the 1900's. Lovely spacious foyer and comfortable seating. Tickets can be booked on line

Yup...the Opera House is very like the Paris Opera House (just smaller!) for one second you simply believe that you're in Paris. It's a lovely structure which, fortunately, is spared all of the communist propaganda of festoon & written notices on its leading so you are able to benefit from the lines of the structure of the structure.…

We were taken by our guide Khan into hanoi, when we saw this show advertised in a theatre. the tickets were selling fast so thought it would be great to see a show. We then learnt that it was to be moved to the Hanoi Opera House. Knan, out guide was very excited that we would be going to the opera house. The building is fantastic, and very frence inside. The bamboo show was really good and well worth the £16 pounds. for the stats, was built in 1897 and designed by Eugene Ferrit.…
