A Must See in Hanoi

Quite a collection of crowded and busy streets. One will see how citizens of Hanoi have lived for generations. Everything is for sale.

Take your life in your hands and do a cyclo trip around the old quarter. It's quite amazing how such a disorganised traffic system doesn't result in more fatalities. There is no such thing as regard for a stop sign, traffic light or pedestrian crossing...what's that?? The footpaths are occupied by traders, workshops, cooks, restaurants and lets never forget MOTORBIKES.... More

For me, visiting old town was good and bad. There is the hustle and bustle of the city, the smells, the sounds and the people... it carries you away and definitely makes it clear you are in a different place... all interesting. At the same time, the people, smells, sounds, junk, etc.... ughh... too much. Overall, at least for me,... More

We enjoyed our walk around the Old Quarter but the number of motorbikes that buzz around you takes away from the experience. It is worth a quick walk about.

Nice area for walking but for me the main feature is what is reputed to be the oldest restaurant in Hanoi, if not in Vietnam. It is a cook at table you are brought cooked Fish but it your job to do the vegetables and side dish.... it only has the one dish, but very quaint. I am sorry I... More

This is an amazing place for shopping. Mostly duplicate branded items that probably last 80% of the times as that of the actual ones. But the prices are way cheaper than the actual ones. The old quarter has streets full selling the same items and for a person who loves street food and shopping, this is the place to be.
