Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had the most delightful experience exploring Hanoi's Old Quarter with our guides Helen and Albert this morning. Their enthusiasm, knowledge, and friendliness truly enhanced my understanding of the rich history and culture of the area. I highly recommend their tours for anyone looking to make the most of their time in this charming part of the city. It is worth noting that we did need to pay for our guides’ entrance fees to the sites, but that was fine of course since the tour was free.

This was our first time to Hanoi and a friend recommended this walking tour. We really enjoyed it. Since we were only doing a stop over to Hanoi before going to Danang and enjoy some seaside, we booked the Hanoi Old French Quarter Tour (half day). On their website you can check the different routes and book the one you like most, add the information requested (I added my whatsapp as well to ease communication) and then an email confirmation will be sent to you.

The day before, I received a whatsapp by the student-guide tour to confirm everything. She was very punctual. We walked through the Old Quarter, stopping to some touristic spots. She was very good at explaining and engaging us during the tour, kind and nice. The tour is for free but we went to some places were we need to buy the entrance ticket.

Really recommend if you want to have some very interesting insight about city from local people. We were also very lucky as it wasn't raining, just very hot and humid, but that's the weather there.

The best part of this tour is that we can get a way better view of hanoi. We are explained, the names and meanings of roads, so that we can easily understand ha noi and become more interested. This was the best tour in ha noi, thanks to this tour program i could easily make a plan where to go. I definately recommend you to use the Hanoi Free Walking Tours and have a better view of the city! You would never regret for the first "post covid tour" in hanoi.

Our guide Hieu: an undergrad studying Tourism spoke relatively good English. He brought us to a restaurant specialising in Banh Xeo (crispy pancake with pork and shrimp wrapped in rice paper). This including a pork on skewer and a local salad was really delicious. We would never have found this place without the his recommendation. This was followed by Bun Cha that I requested. We finished the evening with a local dessert which was a perfect way to end the evening.
Hieu also tried very hard to get us a big cab (5 pax) despite being told that we can take care of the cab ourselves. He stayed with us till we finally boarded a grab car (after like 20 mins - it was New Year day and peak period)
We booked the old quarter walking tour for the next day after being assured he will be our guide too.

I had 2 great tours when I visited Hanoi with my 9 year old daughter in November 2022. Blue and Dong were my tour guides for those trips. They were both really nice people and had excellent knowledge of the City.
I would highly recommend using the free tours as the guides give you a more personal view of the city compared to the paid tours. The tour is just with you and no other travelers which was also nice.
Thank you Blue and Dong!☺️

Stella was fun, informative, flexible and spoke great English. She was in touch with us the day before the tour and was willing to modify the itinerary a bit to meet our needs. She met us on time and was great at reading our group and adjusting the pace and level of information to our needs. She had great recommendations for foods to try and where to go. It was a very pleasurable morning.

We had a great time with our guide, Hieu. We found him friendly, hardworking, knowledgeable and ready with good recommendations for us. We started at the Hoa Lo Prison Relic, followed by the Bach Ma Temple, Hanoi Ancient House, ending at 48 Hang Ngang. We were scheduled to visit more sites per the tour description, but in fully appreciating the sites we did visit, left insufficient time to see the rest. While we hope for the tour's time management to be a bit tighter and for the itinerary to be a bit clearer, we loved the experience and would highly recommend this. We also appreciated Hieu's generosity with his time in showing us a recommendation for coconut coffee after the tour!

Chuc provided us with a tour around Hanoi Old Quarter that was both interesting and engaging. We visited the Heritage House, St Joseph’s Cathedral, Dong Xuan market, various temples before finishing at a cafe watching the world go by at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square with an amazing Vietnamese coffee. Probably the highlight though was learning how to navigate the Hanoi traffic as a pedestrian, which is nothing less than a fine art! The tour was done at a relaxed pace, and Chuc was always happy to stop for photos and recommend places to eat. Highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Great experience! Our guide Yam took us to almost all the top old quarter sites recommended in our lonely planet guidebook, plus gave great commentary along the way. We gave tip which seemed very appreciated, plus paid small entrance fee for one of the sites - otherwise was truly free. I couldn't believe there weren't more strings attached.

We highly recommend Hanoi free Walking tours. My wife and me (Spaniards) with other Irish couple did the old and french quarter tour and it was excellent. Our guide, who was called “Sunday”, explained us very kindly the history of the different temples, marketing and museums that We visited. Moreover, thanks to Sunday We learnt a lot about vietnamist culture and routines.

Thank you so much “Sunday” for sharing with us your knowledge and happiness.
