The museum gives you a glimpse into the culture but this would be more relevant or awe- inspiring for tourists from developed world. Indians (like us) would probably just think back to their own country :)

For 40K, the day never ends. We were thoroughly engrossed and the exhibits seemed never ending. A tip: there is also an outdoors portion which we almost missed. Do not leave seeing this attraction to your last day in Ha Noi as you cannot simply rush through this experience before moving on to the next attraction in your check list.... More

This is an interesting museum with displays on a variety of the Vietnamese ethnic groups. Many of the displays are of the clothing, fabrics and embroidery. It provides you with a good cultural perspective on the Vietnamese people. A walk around the outdoor exhibits of the typical ethnic homes is nice in a very comfortable setting.

This is the must-see-museum in Hanoi. It has two buildings full of amazing collections from VN Ethnic groups AND outside are authentic homes, built by workers from each of the represented tribal groups. It takes two days to do this museum justice.

Fascinating if you like culture, anthropology, textiles, or just climbing into big raised structures like a kid--this museum traces the 54 ethnic groups, many minorities, that are the history of Vietnam. A great afternoon of exploring, don't miss the outdoor exhibits, there's nothing like them. Some are quite explicit, be ready for some intriquing questions from your kids if you... More

This museum has an inside and outside section. The outdoor area displays various houses and other structures typically built by the various minority groups of Vietnam. Also a nice cafe and area for water puppet show. The indoor area holds photographic and actual displays of the various habits of the different groups that live in Vietnam. Beautiful examples of weaving... More

I thought Vietnam was a homogeneous country. I had no idea that it had so many ethnic peoples. The museum changed all that. It also has a park area where you can see the huts of different tribes.

My wife and I travelled for the first time to Vietnam and the Etnology museum helped us learn about the history, culture and ethnicity of Vietnam. We really appreciated the exhibit.

The Vietnamese could do a lot better with this museum. It's artifacts and set ups are average. The outside grounds are nice and you can take a short break from climbing all the stairs in the museum.
