My husband and I visited the Museum of Ethnology as part of a day tour of the city of Hanoi. This is not a museum as most of our knows it, not a boring walk through a building... they have sculptures and samples of everything even their traditional houses. After a walk through the museum there are beautiful gardens outside... More

A quick insight into the ethnic composition of Vietnam. Pictures and exhibits were quite informative. Having an english speaking local guide was very useful.

Well this kind of museum you can visit every in europe too. Of course it was quite nice to visit and to see how the culture developed during the last hundreds of years in vietnam but a lot of attractions were also very touristic oriented. For people with are interested in history and culture its probably a nice experience

A museum that does not overburden you with exhibits but the ones they have are relevant and informative. We especially liked the houses built in the grounds which show the traditional build in several of the ethnic communities in Vietnam. We learnt a lot in a short time

This place could be better because Vietnam has a rich ethnic diversity. But the layout is poor and dated. I went with a guide who made the experience worthwhile but if I went solo I would have been in and out in minutes. Uninspiring building

We were advised to visit the ethnology museum by a number to friends but to be honest I didn't even know what "Ethnology" meant. Well, it sure was worthwhile and I'd recomend it to anyone visiting Hanoi and wanting to learn a little bit about Vietnamese people and their cultural background. Who knew that there were 54 different ethnic peoples... More

Came here with two young kids under 5. The 4 year old was a bit bored inside but once we got out into the gardens, he was very happy to run around and seeing all the different housing styles. We took a taxi there which probably cost $3-4 AUD... We lived near the ho chi minh mausoleum.
