Visited the Thang Long Water Puppet Theater with friends while exploring the city on foot. The theatre provides a great insight into Vietnamese life, culture and art, as the announcements were in Vietnamese and English, but the performances were in Vietnamese only. The theatre would...More

So i bought tickets to this last minute as a friend was persistent that I had to go and I had pretty much exhausted the old quarter of activities. I attended the 8pm show, they run several throughout the day. The 60k Dong($2.75) tickets were...More

This was something I really wanted to do in Hanoi and I am not sure what my expectations were for it exactly but it was really neat! We heard (and saw played) traditional Vietnamese music and instruments and the puppet show was really entertaining, even...More

This water puppet show was very adorable and it was nice to see the musicians play and sing. The puppets told the story quite well along with the music and the puppet masters are really doing a good job. For me the experiences wasn't as...More

I thought the show is gonna be in English, or at least Vietnamese and English. It was pretty cute and interesting for the first few shows. But after a while, it actually made me feel sleepy. I don't know if they have another timing but...More

I would rate this as average. I thought some parts of the show was pretty creative and neat, but also boring. You dont really know if theres a story or a meaning behind the show/acts so youre just watching puppets moving around. The live music...More

Thoroughly enjoyed the puppet theatre . Although mostly in Vietnamese just watching the show gives you an idea of what the story is about. Great musicians using traditional instruments . The best seats would be front row as it can be hard to see above...More

Saw two water puppet shows while in Vietnam, and this was by far the best one! Traditional Vietnamese folklore and way of life shown via water puppets. Vietnamese spoken, however one gets the gist of the show. A small fee is payable (20,000 VND) in...More

It is cute & an old art form but don't expect to be overwhelmed by the performance. The show is in Vietnamese with no translation. The music was good.

I was hesitant at first and thought puppet shows were for children. My wife forced me to go along and I did. The tickets are about USD 5 per head and there are multiple shows every day. The show itself is colorful, artistic and interesting....More

If you're staying a few days try and go to the book office as they have a seating chart for each performance. You might get lucky and get a front row. So in advance get your agent to check and book. Good luck and enjoy
