Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Get to the market early and see the Hà Nội residents buy their fruit and meat. Sights abound from brides and grooms to lovely people offering a taste of smile. Be happy. We loved it and lost all the tourists of the old quarter. Do give it a go!!

Muddy, noisy, exhausting yet captivating: this is where I most love to visit when in Hanoi. If Ben Thanh market was a kaleidoscope of colors and flavors, this sea of greens is where any serious Chef should at least explore. The unending patches of fresh herbs, the mounds of fruit just picked from the countryside, everything is laid on top of ponchos, on the ground. No fuss, no hustle, just pure ecstasy for me on every visit. Be sure to book your trustworthy motorcycle taxi, and get up early. Past 6am, the market is almost done.

I'm an adventure photographer and filmmaker and a place as this market is dream come true, of course you have to wake up very early because this market only works from 4am to 7am. It's due because all the vendors need to buy their fruits before the day starts, it's a vendor frenzy zone, everyone is running and buying before sunrise simply amazing...... Also you can hike up to the bridge before it gets too hot!

We had read about the Long Bien wholesale market on other travellers blogs and websites. There are a few tours that take you to the market, but these all leave early in the morning and cost a bit.
We decided to take ourselves, and my parents (in their 50's) to this market. We caught a taxi about midnight from the Old-quarter and were at the market in about 5 minutes. The market goes from approx. 1am until 6am.
It was great being there from about 12:30-2:00am as we could see the market being set up and the chaos of produce being delivered.
This market has lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and shellfish. Amazing for photos
There are stalls were you can have a drink too!

We arrived at the market at 7 am and there was still quite a bit of activity, although the best time to come would be at 3 am onwards when truck loads of fruit and vegetables arrive from China and outlying areas. Yes, some of the previous reviews mention garbage and smells, but this is to be expected. Troops of cleaners collect the garbage mid morning after the market has more or less closed. The market is located very near the Long Bien Bridge and it is mainly a fruit market where, people come from restaurants, stores and other smaller markets to buy their produce for the day. In my opinion this market is well worth going to see as long as you can put up with the smell and dirt. I suspect this market should be visited in the dry season as their could be even bigger problems in the wet season.

This morning market is not really a tourist spot - but a functioning, teeming, chaotic and crowded fresh produce market where lots of whole sale business happens between 3 am and 7 am. Not exactly clean or sterile - but not the dirtiest either. If you are not too finicky about crowded places that are not too clean and if you are interested in seeing how locals go about their lives, this is worth a visit. Otherwise give it a miss.
We enjoyed the visit early morning- it is walkable from old quarter.

We were on our way to catch the morning sunrise on the Long Bien bridge and passed by this market beside the bridge. All the things one can find in a wet market plus more as every country have their own identity and products. Yes, it's smelly, chaotic and dirty but the variety is unlimited and nicely displayed and colorful. Interesting experience.

Don’t go here if you’re a tourist! The people selling things were so rude, it was dirty, it stank and really was nothing worth seeing.

Mostly wholesale, this noisy and vibrant marketplace will also sell to tourist (with a wry smile). Just about anything you may want to buy is available here but it is hot and crowded! The prices are excellent.
