Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the older bridges in HCMC - was build as a road bridge and now just for pedestrians. It was build by the company that was managed, at one time, by Gustave Eiffel.
I walked across it and if you are an engineer you would be interested in its construction and design - i presume it was made in France and shipped across in kit form - true colonial style. Anyway, its a bit of history, but somewhat undermined by the general filth and grime around it.

This bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel (originally called the Pont des Messageries maritimes) and completed in 1882, seven years before the Eiffel Tower, spans what was named by the colonizers the Chinese Arroyo, and links districts 1 and 4 downtown.
It's a walking bridge painted an ugly green, and has had this big ugly graffiti tag smack in the center of it for years: ROTS.
The stench of pee around the structure is ever-present, and the foundational structure's paint is shabby. Litter on the ground nearby abounds, but where in Vietnam is that not true?
This being the Socialist "Republic" of Vietnam, there is no historical marker whatsoever, and, in my three years of living in Saigon, I never met a single Vietnamese who knew that this bridge was designed by the man who later created the most iconic tower in the world.

Have to admit I only came across this bridge by chance as it’s the easiest way to cross the river. Hmm what to say. A pretty run down bridge with a cute homeless resident. It’s also quite dirty and the steps are completely different sizes on either side. Do not go out of your way to visit this site unless you happen to be crossing the river.

We stayed in an Air BnB apartment just over the river in D4, this wonderful pedestrianised, bridge made it very easy to walk to and from the touristy district one. It is amazing where creations of Monsieur Eiffel turn up, it is doing quite well for over 100 years old, at night it is very popular with young couples. Definitely worth a visit when in the area, especially if you are staying in D4.

A lovely steel bridge (one of the oldest in the HCMC), spanning across the a dodgy part Bến Nghé River, it connects District 1 and District 4 which is a godsend for us, as we stayed in the Saigon royal residences.

Love this unrecognized bridge. It is right next to where the private boats let you off and also in view of one of my favorite coffee shops. Easy to transverse the river but beware of street people- they don't harm you - its just the dirtier side of Saigon.

Crosses the canal from District 1 over to District 4. Older more characteristic bridge. But its dirty and not well looked after. Services a lot of rental apartments to the main district.
