Terribly racist environment against westerners. The parking attendant refused to park our motorbike saying it's full, but continued to accept viet riders bikes. The vendors all raised their prices for foreigners. We speak vietnamese and heard different prices in each language based on race. ALL OF THEM. And saying nasty things about foreigners in Vietnamese. We live here, and will steer all of our contacts, including tour operators, away from here.

This is a "must visit" market for me and my family whenever we are in HCMC. And in our recent trip here, we also made it a point to come by here though much later (usually we would dropby here in the morning around 8~9, less crowded and cooler) and by the time we arrived here after traveling from An Dong market (do refer to my earlier review of this place here too), it was almost 12.30pm.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed our walk-about here, a much less crowded and touristy market among the rest, and in fact bought many things. Quality of the items here were good, comparable to the other markets, if not better.
Generally, the things here are generally cheaper than Ben Thanh or Bin Tay markets as they are catering more to the locals instead of foreign tourists. While this market may not be as big in terms of magnitude as the other two markets, it has almost everything one need to offer, ranging from dried food, fashion, shoes, bags, fresh and artificial flowers, kitchenware and household items etc. There are also many food stalls in the market and in the surrounding where you could have a meal or take a break from your walking.
Well, like the other markets, the stalls here are closely arranged in rows and "knitted" closely to one another and so its quite a challenge to browse through the rows as it will be very squeezy and making things worst, some stallholders would place their products on the floor or sat on the stool that may cause some "obstruction". But this is a common sight for all the markets here and once you are used to it, it should be all right. In fact, we quite enjoyed this unique way of walking experience.
People here were generally friendly and helpful and some could even converse very well in English and Mandarin. And bargaining with them was possible unlike other markets with "fixed" price labels attached to their stalls, signaling no "bargaining".
After our shopping spree, we walked a short distance to opposite the street to have our late lunch and followed by a drink and dessert at Highlands Coffee (do refer to my earlier review of this cafe here too) before heading back to our hotel at 3.00pm.
We did not dropby to visit the Pink Catholic Church here as we had visited it before in our previous visits. But we still stopby to take photo outside the church as a memento for this trip here at this iconic landmark of the area.
Highly recommended.

If you really want to see where locals shop and eat, this market is really intriguing. The multitude of hard goods, food and cooking ingredients is awesome, particularly if you enjoy Asian food. Not overly crowded, but the stalls are jammed together with huge selections.

This is a smaller but more civilised market. The stalls included: fabrics, clothing, groceries, accessories, footwear, fruit & kitchenware. Unlike Ben Thanh, the stall holders did not hassle and if you showed interest were prepared to haggle and got help if they needed assistance with your language. As a consequence we made several purchases.

Had read good reviews as an alternative to Ben tanh market based on goods and food experience. It was pretty well closing up by the time we got there but went to the pink church and then found banh xeo Anthony Bourdain recommended restaurant! Afterwards lots of little Street food stalls had set up just outside the market, and looked interesting- however had to get the kids back to the hotel!

It is located in Tan Dinh district of Ho Chi Minh city. It is purely a local market. Many locals come there and only a few tourist. The price is much reasonable and cheaper than Ben Thanh market.
There are many stalls adjacent to the Main Street selling noodles, behind them are the stalls selling fabric. At the rear, there are many stalls selling meat and seafood. Stalls selling vegetables and fruits are at the parameters of the market.
Jump to conclusion, it is much more worth to visit than Ben Thanh market. It also has items what you can find in Ben Thanh but cheaper. It includes nearly every things in our daily life, no matter it is foodstuff or grocery. Most of the owners of the stalls are friendly. The only disadvantage is English is not so popular there but we can use body language and calculator as the supplement.

Authentic local market provides a wide variety of interesting of things to look at. Locals were very friendly and there were plenty of great photo opportunities. The impressive Pink Cathedral Saigon (Tan Dinh church) is located across the street and also worth a look. We stopped here our bike tour with Saigon Local Motion who were extremely good and good value.

Is a local market so language might be a little problem. ..This market sell fish , veg , meat , dried stuff..shoes n Mango clothing tooo
Oh yes.. A bunch of 15 roses nicely wrap is only 90,000 dong

This is not a tourist market, more a market to wander and check out locals fruit, vegetables and meat. It’s a hive of activity and motorcycles weave in and out of the aisles. Good fun to engage on local activity.

It's a local place so not really recommended for tourists in terms of shopping. But hey, check out the food first! It's absolutely amazing!
It ain't that hard to find so many food stalls in the market offering such wide ranges of food, local food of course. It's not enough for your main course but sure a starter is great too. Check out the soup with pig brains and century eggs. At 50.000VND/bowl, it's a real deal here.
A pair of chicken legs after finishing your soup is recommended. Everyone eats like this so just blend in. Coffee flans for dessert and a cup of iced tea are enough to call it a meal.
