Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In 1941, the French Colonial Army built 9 underground cement bunkers in this forest to hide weapons and munitions from the Japanese. In 1955, the brother ( Ngo Dinh Can) of the then-president of South Vietnam,(Ngo Dinh Diem) turned these now-empty bunkers into prisons to house Communist sympathizers. The existence of these bunkers was found out in 1963 when Diem was overthrown. The bunkers were used as torture chambers in which prisoners could not easily stand erect or sleep laying down. There was very little light. After entering the grounds, you pay the sole tour guide / groundskeeper an entrance fee and he will accompany you and walk you past caved in bunkers, up steps into the woods to see several bunkers, the most intact being Number 8 which houses dioramas of actual size mannequin prisoners in the cells. It is hard to fathom how the French could have ever expected to hide munitions in such a remote place especially having to go up and down hills. We visited Bunker No. 8 which is intact today and went inside after the guard unlocked the door. It is about s 10 minute walk from the entrance up into the woods to see Bunker No. 8. There are no handicap facilities. This would be an interesting site for historians or war buffs. There are no WC facilities that we noticed nearby so be forewarned. We combined this with tours of the tombs of Tu Duc and Dong Khanh which are nearby.

There is really not much left to see of the actual bunkers. There are signs for each of the bunkers in both Vietnamese and English. Bunker 8 is the only one left intact and inside it they use mannequins to represent the victims which is a bit eerie. Still, I'm glad I came here. There is a very large monument and temple to honor the victims right across the road from the area with the bunkers. The man who showed me around was very kind and spoke English well enough.
