Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In the middle of a well-maintained garden is a royal urn surrounded by several muzzle-loading canons mounted on carved pedestals and a number of sculptures. This Museum houses a fine collection of antique pieces belonging to royal family, including gold seals, hand-stitched robes, and gilded books and silver screens. We can see Vietnamese dynastic treasure at this Museum a traditional pavilion featuring ornate ivory pieces, gilded boxes, decorated urns, ceramics and lavish royal beds. Photography inside the museum is not allowed.

Okay, so I was expecting a bit more from this Museum. Don't get me wrong, it is surrounded by history and some of the pieces they have are very interesting. However, if you're not that into relics or antiques - you definitely won't need to spend more than an hour here, I'd probably suggest like 30 mins max. Also important to note that you must either cover your shoes with slip covers (provided) or take your shoes off before entrance. This is a common thing around holy and historical sites - but just something you must be aware of. Another important point is that no pictures are allowed. I can also say that I could easily see younger children getting very bored here, so probably would not recommend this as a "family outing".

A fine, peacefull and well appointed museum, Beautifull royal provenance pieces that are well presented. Most definitely worth a couple of hours for a visit.
Just a note to some of the previous reviewers; please keep in mind that Hué was almost obliterated from the face of the earth during the Vietnam war and that the mere fact that these pieces survived is almost a miracle in itself. And please keep in mind that admittance is FREE! Why bash on something that is given to you? Sad!

Very small Museum with Interesting collections of Royal Antiquities. Very well maintain and no people at all when i was there. Very peaceful to enjoy this piece of history by your own.
Just use the entrance ticket bought for the Citadel and just few meter away from the Right entrance of the Citadel.
Certainly recommend this attraction for history lovers.

What a good museum this is. Lots of varied displays with old pottery, clothing, weapons abs house wares.
This is a must do in a visit to Hue and Vietnam. Mostly when travelling in Vietnam visits seemed to be linked to the recent war or religious sites.
Visiting this museum allows you to see tangible items including coins going back over 1000 years.
The building and gardens are nice to take in.
The collection is not huge but all the items are in good condition and the signage is clear. Probably a 45 minute stop for most people.

Museum was free to enter. Some interesting items from Nguyen dynasty and took around 15mins to cover it. Would have preferred more context and information of the exhibits but i guess since its free, no complaints.

I only went because it was close to the Citadel. There were lots of really nice things and if you like antiques, worth a visit. It's small, I only spent 30 min. here.
