Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This might have been a good beach 10 years ago, but now it is full of waste - plastic spoons and forks, plastic bags, discarded cloths, household waste, snack wrappers, cocktail sticks, old tyres etc. The locals don't give a damn, and the local authorities don't comb the beach for rubbish. The quality of tourist clientele is also clearly poor, as they take no care to properly dispose of waste.
The water is dirty and smells like old fish and diesel, and there's now a huge docking for boats at one end of the beach.
Totally ruined, and not worth the trip. We drove almost two hours from Nha Trang and if the children had not been so hungry, we would have turned right back around the second we arrived and driven away again. Awful.

It's worth traveling 60km to get here and take a swim. Nha Trang beach is a disappointment here it's not paradise but at least you can swim. The beach is clean only in the part near the two resorts. The water is not exactly clear but acceptable. Better to come with the rental scooter

We arrived by bus from Nha Trang, it was quite difficult to understand when the return bus was coming, at the bus station there was a whole table that was difficult to understand.
We walked in both directions, did not find any area with sunbeds that was not tied to the hotels, in one place, when trying to take a sunbed, they demanded a several times inflated price from us, apparently just so that we would leave.
Locals sit under continuous canopies and eat with a view of the sea.
In the end, we spent three hours on the beach.
There is practically no shade, you can only lie on the side, near the palm trees.
The sea is picturesque, but there are no comfortable conditions.

It's slightly off the beaten track and not my favourite beach in Vietnam (which certainly isn't in Nha Trang either - it's Moi An) but it's off the beaten track enough to be a fantastic place to stay in Vietnam. It does get busy about 3.30pm with Vietnamese day trippers and at the weekends, but during the day you've pretty much got it to yourself. There are loads of restaurants around, not one of which appear on Trip Advisor, (even though they deserve to) because they don't actually have addresses.
I would definitely go there but I have 2 caveats.
1. Walk a kilometre along the beach away from the resort's and the plastic starts piling up washed in by every single tide and not cleared away. It is the sad underbelly of our throw away culture and nobody likes single use plastic more than the Vietnamese.
2. If you are female do not go to the beach after dark. We went as a group, because the night before I had witnessed bioluminescence and wanted to see it again, (we were disappointed, I was very lucky that first night) but as we walked off the beach two Vietnamese pricks on a motorbike grabbed my 16 year olds daughter tit, laughing as they rode past. Shame on them. So go but take care girls.

If you want a chilled beach experience then Doc Let and the surrounding villages are it. We were initially disappointed by the beach at Doc Let itself, it was largely taken up by resorts, coach loads of tourists doing non-stop water sports and a lot of plastic and rubbish in the water and on the shore. It is also very popular with Russian tourists so we found ourselves quite a bit outnumbered and unable to read menus... I hear this is the same for Nah Trang...We had a good afternoon here but were slightly disappointed. It wasn’t the paradise we thought it would be.
The real paradise came after we hired a scooter and took the advise of some local ex pats. We drove north to a spit of land near to a village called Dom Mon. There is a stretch of coast backed onto only by sand dunes and a small road going between the fishing villages. We literally had the whole beach to ourselves. White sands and clear turquoise ocean stretching for miles. Unfortunately there is still litter on this beach somehow... take a cool box if you visit, you will literally be the only thing there.
The next day we took the scooter south to a lovely stretch of coast backed by lush green mountains, makes a good drive once you pass out the giant port! We ended up on a beach resort called Wild Beach. It is next door to the now closed but we’ll known Jungle Beach resort. We payed 100,000VND to sit on this bay but it was worth it. The most beautiful beach we have ever been on. The water was super clear and sparkly, no litter anywhere, just some rocks, white sand and a very quite resort, so again we felt as though we had a private beach. They didn’t mind that we had our cool box of beers either!
I would definitely recommend getting on 2 wheels and getting out of Doc Let if you go, you will be rewarded greatly. Chances are if you choose to go to Doc Let over Nah Trang then you are looking for serenity, explore a little and you’ll find it, don’t just sit on Doc Let beach. It’ll be a disappointment.

We stayed for six days in a hotel at the north end of the beach. Each day I walked the length of the beach on the beautiful white sand and swam in the crystal clear water. At weekends the south end of the beach is very popular with Vietnamese day trippers who like their karaoke. During the week about 80% of the visitors seem to be Russian.
The disappointing part is the litter as you can see from my photos. This place could be paradise and a real goldmine for the Vietnamese economy but instead they have turned it into a rubbish tip which is such a shame.

Don‘t go there. We searched for a nice empty beach with clear water.
Pro:
- clear water
Cons:
- full (I mean totally full) of Chinese and Russia
- loud
- dirty
- you have to pay for sunbeds, laying at the beach is forbidden (private)
- no friendly staff

The beach was filthy and the water was full of plastic and diesel
The worst beach in Vietnam to date. It has been taken over by cheap day resorts and one end is a large terminal for very large ships

I had enjoyed this beach on previous visits but it has gone downhill. When we showed up for an early morning swim and put our towels down on the sand we were told to move on by a hotel security guard. This was repeated numerous times. About 2 kilometres of the beach is now private. After walking over a kilometer we did find a place that was public but there was a lot of garbage. I then got about 200 sand fly bites that required us to shorten our 5 day holiday to just 1 1/2 days. Two members of the family got diarrhea from eating in the local restaurants.

Hello Fellow Travellers, We are in Nha Trang for a few days and wondered if Doc Let Beach is worth a visit. Have read mixed reviews about the amount of trash, are there cleaner stretches of Doc Let beach or somewhere safer for kids to play without stepping on rubbish? thank you!!
Written 27 December 2018
Sorry, but we saw trash on the beach and aluminum cans and bottles in the water everywhere that we visited in Doc Let and also Nha Trang. We saw many Chinese tourists in the area, who appear to have no respect for others or the area they are visiting; sneezing directly into buffet foods, peeing on the floor, and throwing trash on the ground.

Hi, im thinking of going to doc let for the day. Im hesistating between staying at a resort, that offers lunch and use of amenities. OR, just going to use doc let beach and eating at a restaurant. Is there restaurants by the beach? Is there a town?
Thank you
Written 6 March 2017
Hi, Sorry for late reply. Yes, there are several restaurants by the beach. Yes, there is town there which is called Doc Let. I would suggest you to have free breakfast at hotel if you are going to stay at one. And have lunch/dinner in the restaurants by the beach
