About
The Flicks Community Movie Theater WAS the legendary and most unique location in Phnom Penh where you could enjoy the latest films, festival winners, documentaries and kids flicks on a big screen, in an "uber-comfy" air conditioned movie room, from before there were big cineplexes. The Flicks closed permanently on August 8, 2021. The Flicks was the little movie theater from the time when there was no other big screen in town, located in an original wooden Cambodian house and features an all air conditioned bar and a leafy outside terrace. Its movie room seated 32 people. You could enjoy your movies for only $4 per day, with a drink, snacks and homemade fresh popcorn available at the bars!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’m a huuuuuge movie fan. I’ve been traveling for a few months now and a good cinema has been hard to find. I’ve been itching to watch a good movie lately and was nearby for lunch and said what the heck, I’ll check it out. My partner and I could not be more pleased with this experience! You go upstairs to a very chill outside seating area if you want to drink and relax. Otherwise you slip your shoes off and push through the curtain to easily one of the most unique lobbies for a cinema I’ve ever seen. It had such a nostalgic feel with the artwork and atmosphere. We were lucky to have a chat with the owner for a bit before the movie started. He was very energetic and obviously passionate about film. We loved chatting with him about movies and travels. He informed us that there was just a cover charge to get in of only $4 per person and there was no limit to the films you could stay and watch. We saw the film we initially came to see and stuck around for a different film immediately after which he had highly recommended. Once we paid and it was nearly time for the movie, we passed through the door into the theater and my eyes lit up like the screen. Comfortable looking couches and reclined seats as well as small pillows. We took a reclined chair dead center and didn’t move for hours. Both movies were excellent and the experience all around unforgettable. Thank you for having such a place for movie lovers like myself!

Loved this theater! Wide aisles, good view of the screen most anywhere you sit, good service, and good eats!

Visited this little theatre just for something to do for our last evening in the city and had a great time. The theatre and it’s staff were very welcoming, it was very well priced and I would recommend to any of my friends

I just discovered this little gem last week. It's has a very warm, friendly environment. They show many films new films that aren't mainstream Hollywood and you otherwise wouldn't have heard of. independent films, foreign films, etc.
If you appreciate films as art instead of just cheap entertainment, then you have to check this place out.
Also, Kat was very welcoming and accommodating and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

A quirky, quaint and comfortable hideaway from the frenzy of Phnom Phen. Popcorn made to order and delivered to us in the cinema. The host's laconic manner belied a genuine effort to make our experience pleasurable, even adjusting the sound and a.c. to our preference. A good sized screen and the sound system did the trick nicely. Great price, especially considering there's the option of multiple films in succession. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the night.

I notice that there were some bad reviews in the past about the Flicks 2 and Flicks 3 locations. But these are now closed and the original Flicks 1 location (now just called The Flicks) in Street 95 (close to Street 310) is PERFECT. The small cinema has good A/C and comfortable seating. The staff are invariably pleasant. They show mainly English language films but also some foreign ones. An eclectic mix very different from the rubbish usually shown at Aeon Mall etc.

Thank you very much for your positive review. Indeed, we closed the other Flicks locations in the end of 2017 as we could not guarantee the same quality and service as the original Flicks location. Since then we put all our effort in making sure that everybody's experience at this venue is at its best with great customer service and comfort allover. Thanks for your visits!

We watched two movie for 3 bugs. It's a relaxing room with AC and sofas. It's really a cool project, feelings like home but we a huge tv and soundsystem. We can recommend the peperoni pizza which you can order and eat while the movie is running.

Thanks for your enthusiastic and positive review. It must have been 3.50 bucks, because that's the cover charge per day (increasing to $4 from May 1). Welcome back soon!

What a charming cinema! After travelling around Phnom Penh , my wife and i were looking for somewhere to relax and just chill!

After hearing from expats at a bar, we visit this great spot. $3.50 for all day of movies, hot popcorn and cold beer - and a great selection of movies. Exactly what we were looking for!!!

Also, they have a book exchange (but only English, fiction books!)

Would recommend booking online however, as it does get business (as we found out for our last movie!)

Tried a private booking, useless staff despite knoing booking time had a movie running well over time, like 50 mins over. Rang owner to resolve, because the useless staff feigned ignorance. Owner was rude and aggressive as if it was our fault. He abused my wife verbally and Refused to repay booking fee, insisted we had to go to some other location to get a refund he following day. Absolute clown, thick as a plank. Place is filthy, food is horrible. We had an attempted bag snatch from tuktuk on way home, i would say the tuktuk guy was in on it and he sits outside this place. Basically this street is full of thieves who target tourists. At the flicks owner is probably crook too

This review was posted a year after this event happened and does not relate to the current location of The Flicks. This discribed event occurred at a previous 3rd location of the movie theater, which was fully managed by the Cambodian co-owners. Hence such events and the unprofessional care of any other locations besides the main venue, now just known as The Flicks Community Movie Theater, there are no more other locations like The Flicks 2 and The Flicks 3. We regret this has happened, but unfortunately we could not expect any guaranteed professionalism from the co-owners of these other venues and have therefore also pulled the plugs on these locations.
