It is an important museum to understand the history of Laos. As in many Lao museums here it is forbidden to take photos. They should change this primitive mentality.

Do the second floor first, if time is an issue. The museum closes from 12:00 to 1:00, and we had to leave. The first floor is mainly text and photos, a lot repeated, and the quick glance we had of the second floor seemed to...More

The museum doesn't get a lot of visitors but well worth a visit if you want to understand more about Laos, the recent history and of course Kaysone Phomvihane.

Best check with the tourist information centre first. Doubt if it will open on Sundays, not much is, on that day. From memory 9:00am to 12:00, then 1:00pm to 4:00 or 5:00pm
