A place to hangout in the evening

A place for the local and tourist to chill especially in the evening with the sunset in the background. There were many tourists visiting for photos.

So so beautiful and romantic! Make sure you go there in the evening so you can see the monument being lit up. The only downside is it's a bit away from everything- no decent places to eat nearby

Concrete small Victory Monument, built in 60s to celebrate kicking the French out a decade earlier. The latter had left Laos in such a state that they had to wait a decade till the Yanks send tons of cement to build a proper concrete decent runway. Some of this was, shall we say, appropriated to build this monstrosity. The runway... More

One of my highlight ; most distinctive Victory Monument landmarks amongst the modest Vientiane skyline. To me , it reminiscent the like of India Gate & Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Very relaxing and pleasant to sit around after an actual climb to the top of the tower for the stunning city views.

Visiting Patuxai anytime of day is nice (except for rainy days). You can climb to the top for a very small fee and the view is worth the effort. The park at the bottom of Pauxai is well maintained and easy to explore. All and all it will only take you less than an hour, but when in Vientiane you... More

A beautiful piece of history and intricately decorative on the inside. It was a nice walk and not to far from downtown Vientiane. Well worth the visit.

Just a monument... it has park surrounding where locals come for a stroll. On the end (going from river direction) is local eatery and cafe to have a beer and give your legs a brake from city sightseeing.
