The attractions of Colombo are countless with many museums, art galleries, golf courses, gyms, spas and salons, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, cafes and coffee shops to keep you busy.
Agree with all of the other reviews that this is a way of getting out and seeing a few old buildings but they are in a sad state of repair. This was the only place that we really got hassled by street sellers, tuk-tuk drivers...More
This is a great place for whiling away a few hours wondering around the interesting shops and cafes.
If you find yourself in Colombo then absolutely wander around the fort area but don't go out of your way to do so. The colonial buildings are beautiful but so many in a sad state of disrepair. There's some nice looking bars and restaurants here.

Bit over rated. Very long fortress wall is probably the main and only real bit of interest. The lighthouse is no big deal. Some of the tiny streets are interesting but not worth too much of your time. The main gate is photoworthy.
train was my main transport way to travel in Colombo than the buses. Nice to shopping and walk along the street.
