Horrible. Dirty. Air full of exhaust fumes and the stench of dried fish. Unless you're looking for groceries, there's literally nothing worth seeing or buying at the market. No interesting souvenirs or fashionable items of clothing. Lots of junk. Not a patch on a Bangkok...More

I think the Pettah markets are the best experience. Arguably the best is the Federation of Self Employees Market off Olcott Mawatha and open from 7am to 4pm (but probably not for up-market shopping or genuine labels... More
