Small zoo but spent an enjoyable morning here. Variety of animals and opportunity to view fairly closely.

I went to the Zoo with my two daughters. There are lot of animals. But feel sad to see that they do not have much space. Place is a bit crowded on public holidays sand during school vacation.Kids will enjoy the animals.

Very large zoo. There's plenty of attractions. Elephant show, seal show and chimpanzee shows are some of the attractions. Besides this there's a special reptile section as well as a bird's section. It's a must see with kids.

We were looking forward to visiting the zoo as we had been there 23 years ago. Unfortunately things did not go well from the start. Admission at the gates stated "foreigner " 2500 rs, "locals" 100 rs, I don't mind paying extra as a tourist but this fee was scandalous, 25 times more !!! On entering the zoo we were... More

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this zoo - its extensive and features a large variety of animals in a very beautiful setting. Animals appear well cared for. Note that tourists are charged a significantly higher entrance fee compared to locals.

The zoo is well maintained and clean. It is quite spread and has a good variety of animals. Having a few more sitting places would have been helpful.

We were a bit skeptical to visit after reading some comments about the zoo earlier in the day. Decided to go see for ourselves and to be frank the zoo is ok, you can see how beautiful it was initially designed to function as but it has been run-down. We had a great day of fun visiting the different enclosures,... More

the first zoo in sri lanka, there's another zoo but there you visit in cages and animals live freely. here, you can find many popular animals in world. it's a calm and relax place. you can watch elephant dances also.

This years marks its 80th year and it sure looks it. Not much of the foreigner entrance fee (Rs. 2,500) finds its way back into development. Like with all zoos, better to arrive morning or afternoon to see the animals do something other than sleeping. You can get around quickly if your only have 1-2 hours, but could spend longer... More

Its heart rending to say that the current state of the zoo is in very poor condition. The cleanliness and hygiene is very low.And theres not much of animals to be seen at present. Even the ones remaining look very unhealthy and not well kept. It truly is a sad sight for animal lovers.
