Don't worry if you've never heard of Geoffrey Bawa , I hadn't, but if you like design and buildings and light and space and fabulous taste, this is a total jewel of a place
Lovely unrushed personal tour of this surprisingly spacious home.

Nice architecture as a must see, he was the lawyer but interesting in architectural, he was very famous and a lot of his work/ designed building widely seen in Colombo. There also accommodation available but always fully book because only 1 suite.
It was a pleasure to be able to visit Geoffrey Bawa’s house and be able to gain an insight into his home and way of life.
A remarkable, innovative and highly talented person.
An absolute “must” visit when visiting Colombo.

The beautifully designed house by Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa is certainly worth a look. It is so cleverly laid out to catch the breezes and maintains a lightness about it in every room. The thoughtful placement of objects and the artefacts there are lovely.

We went in the afternoon and it was very pleasant. Decent light and we were able to enjoy the roof. I don't really think that it makes a great difference. Do see his meditation center in the lake which is also in Colombo and eat at The Gallery Cafe which was his studio . Enjoy !
