Loved the ancient building and the chandelier, which was the prime reason we decided to have a look around inside. And we weren't disappointed. I'm not much into history, but the currency history of Sri Lanka as exhibited at this musuem intrigued us. Highly recommended for those who are interested in history as well as, yep, archaeology!!

Wanted something to do briefly in the Fort area and it was definitely that. The museum seemed to be one room with a couple of dozen commemorative coins, some pictures of old coins with rhetorical questions which gave nothing away underneath and a tv with chairs in front where presumably a film is played, but not today! We ended up... More

The entrance rotunda and chandelier are interesting. Saw a small exhibit about coins and currency. May have actually missed the museum due to lack of signage.

Housed in an old colonial building, the currency museum is one for a wet afternoon only if you have an inquisitive mind or children...!

It is one of the many restored buildings in the fort area. It has a small free currency museum which isn't all that interesting. But the 5 floor high chandelier is worth a look

There is a 70 foot long chandelier in the foyer of the museum. Worth going in just for that. Had a look during a walking tour of the fort area - can thoroughly recommend that!
