Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In Sri Lanka- many places have mastered the high pressure sale to the non suspecting tourist- or the tourist in distress who needs something they forgot... for me I needed a saree as when I arrived I realized my clothing I picked up on way to airport from the tailor back home was a disaster.

My tuk tuk driver after telling me "don't go where hotel tell you they get commission for recommending I take you where locals go cheap)". Trusting the tuktuk to take me to cheap place, I arrived in Lakmedura and I made mistake of admiring a saree on the rack. Before I even had a chance to think - the women had wrapped me in it, safety pinned me in it, were saying how beautiful I looked, and had written a bill. The tuk tuk driver (no doubt on commission) even joined in on it. Knowing I had limited time and needed it tailored they used time as part of in with the pressure - and being my first shop in Colombo I was confusing Indian and Sri Lankan rupees. So My Mistake (admittedly)- I got ripped off big time.

Everyone since has said that saree should caused 3000-4000 rupee. I paid almost $14000. Sigh. When I recalculated at hotel I realize I spent way more than I needed to.
I can buy in US for much cheaper.

This is thing about Sri Lanka is some things are more expensive than US because they are geared at tourist willing to pay... And I totally fell for it.

When buying jewellery at this place do your calculations and have your price worked out. They stooged us with a US price, when we asked for AUD they settled on a price we like, but then charged our credit card with LKR. After we have arrived home the price converted $100.00+ more than what we bargain for.
Typical.

Under a single roof you will find all types of Traditional Srilankan stuffs to buy for self or others. Comparing to other similar chains, they are more reasonable with wide variety of products......cloths, accessories, show pieces, toys, tea and what not.

Terrible place - AVOID IT!! I bought this pair of leather shoes in May 2023. I wore it for the first time in a party on June 17 and the undersole of both the shoes came off. This is a first in my life! I had to borrow a fresh pair of shoes from my hosts - most embarrassing moment of my life!

Unsuspecting tourists are taken here and the guide or driver gets a commission. Products are very expensive and are of poor quality.

We were somewhat forced by our tuktuk driver to come to this shop and boy are we glad!! It's all so reasonably priced here that I was a little surprised. The best thing about this shop is that you are not followed around by a shop attendent pressurising you to buy things! Definitely worth a visit.

The only reason you are taken here is because your driver or tour guide gets a large commission. Run away to lakpahana to buy better crafts at cheaper prices

We went there in November 2013 - Monsoon Seasons.

It is a great place for shopping for Souvenirs, make sure you wear comfortable Sandals because this place has few storeys.

Items here are in reasonable price and they also sells in Bulk - great for Families and Friends. Love the Fridge Magnets and keychains.

Teas are more cheaper here rather than other places.

Collection is good. Salespersons are not interactive and friendly. When you see a product you like to buy. But when you see salespersons you change your mind.
