You can take a mashrutka to Varzob for only 3 som. Ride it to its end point, in Varzob, where a street to the right enters a side valley. There are houses for the first 2 or 3 kms, but after only a trail in the nature. After an hour, a small stream on the left leads to a short... More

If you're into scenery then this place won't disappoint but it has little else to offer. It is especially pretty in winter but not so much in autumn

Lovely part of Tajikistan, many places along the river where you can relax in small wooden huts and have lunch. Most of them also have swimming pools for a refreshing dip. Being within an hour from the city of Dushanbe makes it very accessable.

Mountain-fed river flows thru natural gorge for several miles just outside Dushanbe with parallel highway. If you are with a local person, try to drive into the "villas", weekend huts and swimming pools built just off the river. Nice drive but nothing extraordinary.

Nothing particularly special. Pleasant enough to sit under the shade in one of the cafés. Walks are very poorly marked.

This drive up into the mountains is quite a delight---gushing river, nice little restaurants along the side of the road to cater to locals wanting to escape the heat. Glaciers---goats being herded--roadside vegetable stands---all so very picturesque.
